EU flag and anthem revived.  Oh and by the way, the Irish might be given a 2nd chance to vote.

  1. Have you ever read something that wasn’t what was actually written but your mind’s eye changed it?

In reading peiper’s post the bit “they have decided to make more use of the flag and the motto “United in Diversity.” came out as “United in Depravity”.  Somehow what I “read” makes a heckuva lot more sense than the silly blather the EU Parliament is trying to shove down the world’s throat.

  2. "United in Diversity?” crazy

Perhaps the ghosts of Roman, Russian and particularly Habsburg Emperors could tell us how silly such a slogan is, not to speak of the concept it embodies.

“United in Depravity” is far nearer the reality of this ridiculous situation.

    Jeez!

  3. United in Depravity… while listening to the “anthem” used to celebrate Hitler’s birthday.... kinda says it all, really.

  4. Erin go bragh!  Maintain your sovereignty and independence, and God bless your common sense!

  5. Damn right Tan. Poga mahone! They voted, it’s over. Done. Buh-bye.

We’ve seen this Take a Mulligan crap from the EU before though. And others ...
It’s another AlGore-ithm (a process that is repeated an infinite number of times until a predetermined result is achieved. Not to be confused with an algorithm, a process that is repeated a finite number of times until an undetermined result is achieved).

  6. The EU won’t accept a no answer. Trust me they will, by hook or by crook, get the Irish to change their minds. The EU cannot be deflected from their goal of a “United States of Europe” run by an unelected elite of course. The people can’t be trusted by these scumbags. We are witnessing a new fascist era in my view.

  7. LyndonB, sadly I have to agree with you.  We’re running into pretty much the same thing here in the United States with a political party doing it’s darnedest to get us to be socialists/fascists and renounce our sovereignity.  I did read with interest how the Guardian *spit* is saying the rest of the world is going to declare war on us if we don’t vote in the Obamessiah.  http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/sep/10/uselections2008.barackobama

Then again, when has it ever been that socialists and fascists style to leave other countries alone?  Globalization with the idea of “one world, one government” under a socialist type government would be an ideal target for the ummah that’s after a caliphate.

  8. We all seem to agree that the EU is a clear and present danger to Western civilization, and therefore ought to be scrapped, the sooner the better.  I endorse this view completely.

Furthermore, I will take the liberty of venting a bit of personal pique here.

Those of us who know music know exactly what sort of beacon and monument Beethoven’s 9th Symphony was, and always will be.  It was the star that composers followed throughout the Romantic era, which it did no small part to define.  Symphonists from Schumann all the way out to Sibelius were always conscious of its brightness.  It was to them what the Holy Grail was to the Arthurian knights of legend, and it remains a star of hope to any who would raise their own achievements above the level of the mundane, the ruck of the everyday way.  It will always stand alone, unmatched and unmatchable.

For this reason alone, it is outrageous, and worse than outrageous, for it to be soiled by unclean hands.  Those who would twist such achievements and turn them to vile ends remind me of worms trying to infest Olympus.  Let them leave it alone!

  9. Here are some lyrics worthy of the new European Union anthem:

“We Elites from High in Brussels
Shove decrees right up your butt
We will tell you to enjoy it,
Watch us as we bust our nut!

Then we’ll pass the laws that will tell you
How to eat, to drink, get fit.
You will scream and shout and complain,
We won’t even give a shit!”

  10. Mack, are you *sure* you didn’t listen in on the Obamessiah’s outfit as they were working on the new Demo anthemn?  bat

Your inspired lyrics definitely fit both the EU and Obaby’s political and megalomaniacal goals. bowdown  bowdown  chasehatchet  soapbox

  11. If you’re referring to Glenn Beck’s take on the Russian National Anthem then yes.
    Otherwise...cool smile
