  1. Ouch! That last line struck home dead center.

  2. Hey Christopher ... what a shock. I don’t know why it’s a shock. Silly of me really.
But I never thought I’d see anything like that and especially referring to the toons I grew up with.  And yeah. That last line said a lot, as KG points out.

The dictatorship of PC Chris. It’s gonna ruin us.

  4. What a shame - as my husband said - what about the 3 Stooges and some other stuff from the bygone era of reality, sanity and just plain calling a spade a spade. You know this why I went off on the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas ‘thing’ - how dare you judge something that happened 10, 20 or 30 years ago by your own frickin standards today. I worked under a couple of guys that were sexist idiots - so what - you enter a mans world (the Army, I was working as a civilian among the first overseas) - that’s what you get. Told some off, ignored some, laughed along with a couple. It is a form of re-writing history and notice it seems - only the Americans are wrong, bad and downright racist. Good luck with that one - it is going to be your undoing.

What a crock - these people ‘claim’ to be for ‘the little guy’ and tragically they are going to turn all of humanity into serfs and slaves under a few with the weapons and power and money - how in the name of anything holy and right is that ‘being for the little guy’ at all. They are for themselves and out to destroy anyone not them.

Thank goodness we got our copies long ago before all the fancy repackaging and blah, blah, blah PC crappola.

  5. I’ll bet those warnings are like the FBI warning and other bits before the actual show, they’re a separate chapter (you can tell by watching the chapter numbers on the display of your DVD player as you’re playing and getting to the comics in question.)

If so, then you can rip the actual body out of the DVD and re-write it to a DVD-R easily with software out there.  I do this for a lot of the DVD’s I buy because I HATE being forced to watch stupid warnings, previews, etc… I just want to watch my movie dammit.

Drew?  Peiper?  Christopher and other admins:  Is it okay to mention the specific software I use for this purpose in case others are interested?

  6. Tiger, as far as I know, you have the right to do whatever you want to a DVD that you purchase, as long as you aren’t selling (or even giving away, perhaps) the end product that you have created. Sounds like you’re making a backup copy of the data with some extra editing. I don’t see a problem, but I do know that the older DVD players can’t handle the newer kinds of disks. My 12 year old Denon machine only plays the silver ones; it can’t handle -R, -RW, or any of the blue tinted disks at all. That said, a modern $30 player can handle all of them and then some.

Tiger .... I can’t see a problem with that.  Drew?

  9. Tell you what, I’ll go ahead and mention the software, and if you folks want, you can axe the reply.

SlySoft makes a pair of products:  AnyDvd which removes the dumb-ass protection, and CloneDVD which allows you to rip and burn a copy of either the whole disc, or just one title.  These are VERY slick utilities.

By burning a single title, you can get the entire movie without all the extra crap they stick on there.
