When private property right conflict with “Social Evolution”

  1. “They were stubborn, so they get what they get, which is half that,” he says.

“This project is absolutely needed to keep San Francisco on the cutting edge of societal evolution.” Brenner says, “Marijuana will be legalized, if for no other reason than the treatment of chronic pain and the after-effects of chemotherapy.  Private property is the last refuge for the aristocracy in this country, and aristocrats will not stand in the way of the people’s progress in San Francisco.”

I wonder if brenner owns a house or a car? Maybe they should be confiscated for the public good.

  2. Private property is the last refuge for the aristocracy in this country, and aristocrats will not stand in the way of the people’s progress in San Francisco.

It’s frightening to hear anybody in the United States say something like this.  This guy’s an unabashed communist.  How the hell did he ever get elected to any office?  Oh, that’s right: this is San Francisco…

  3. Ok - I hear (I don’t have cancer - nor do I have anyone close who has it) that there are now drugs out to assist/deminish the effects of chemo. Not to mention that there are a couple of National centers that work toward a whole mind, body and nutrition aproach to cancer treatment (rather than the old slash and burn) - -and isn’t one of the biggest complaints (mine) out there that the evil Pharmas are just churning out drugs - left, right and center for all sorts of things? And chronic pain - uhh (and no, I’m not heartless at all - and yes, I’ve had back, migraine and real (female issue) pain - so I understand truly) but isn’t this a bogus point - let’s work to find the cause and treat it. Oh, and btw, someone might want Mr. Brenner that drug use (among the young) is dropping not increasing. And if he ever bothered to stop inhaling, he’d know it.

This is just a bunch of hippies preparing for the assuming of the throne by the Goddess of the World and thus when the hounds of hell are let loose - they can get maryjane ‘legal’ and be making the big bucks. . .and sending up in smoke another generation.

And attempting to use eminent domain.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. (Edmund Burke)

  5. Dang ... if you’re going to have a municipal wacky tebaccy farm, use a **** vacant lot or some place willing to actually sell.  Or better yet, drop the project and let the potheads get their magical herb the old-fashioned way.  But for Pete’s sake, don’t swipe someone’s farm for a **** experiment!

  6. Absolutely hilarious! The socialists get exactly what they deserve!!

Unfortunately, I’m going to hazard a guess that this isn’t a real article. The website this is posted on only posts satire. If you check the “About” page on the site is states as much.

  7. Not a functioning brain among these people. Commies all. The only solution is complete detruction of these peole.

  8. I’ll start by saying that I think marijuana should be legalized and regulated in a similar fashion to beer and wine.

That said, at best eminent domain is a nasty bit that has dubious ethical standing.  This is as much b.s. as the case bake east where the land was given to a developer.  No, no, this is just plain wrong.

  12. This article has been generating some great conversations around the web today.  Glad you enjoyed it.

I received a call yesterday from the San Francisco Chronicle asking me about sources and such, and one today from a PR firm in Sacramento.

  13. So when can we officially revoke California’s statehood and have them become their own country? ;)

  16. I’d never been out to the Official News Agency before this article. If this is the caliber of their product, I’d say they’re gonna give The Onion some major competition!

Posted by Drew458    United States   11/02/2007  at  09:00 PM

  17. I thought it read like something out of the Onion.  It’s scary, though, that this is something we wouldn’t put past the moonbats in San Francisco.

Posted by Orion    United States   11/03/2007  at  09:07 AM

  18. Ok - I admit I bit - and hard. Good one. And I admit that I bought it hook, line and sinker - just like some of trash I read on DU and Daily Kos - against the military that is just such utter tripe and yet the moonbats buy it hook, line, and sinker.

And thus is the major problem in America - debate has been shut down to such a degree that the Us vs Them mentality has gone to such an extreme that both sides belive outright lies about the other - and fail to investigate before buying in.

So now I have to work through my own issues or stop trusting you Mr. C?!? Or must I investigate all before commenting - not a half bad idea, but I get so lost into areas I never knew existed when I start linking on the InterNet and I am supposed to have a life.

I shall take it with the pie on my face and forgive (for now). . .lest you all join with my children and say I have no sense of humor.

  19. The scary thing is, y’all, while THIS was satire(prophecy?), we could believe it strongly enough to react. That the nation has come to the point where this is believable. I’ve bookmarked this too.
