  1. Your remark about cruise ships too.... I was in the Navy in the 80s, lil dixie cup boat doing Caribbean drug interdiction ops for most of my time in the fleet. Yes, there is still piracy in the Caribbean. And when seconds count, the Navy is likely to be hours or days away. It’s a big place.
    When my son told me a few years back that he hopes to one day run a charter boat service, that got me thinking about gun control in yet another way. While I don’t blame US law enforcement for being nervous about overly armed people coming into our ports, at the same time I would want to have a MINIMUM of one assault rifle per crew/passenger plus at least one decent sniper rifle and one 40mm grenade launcher when I’m at sea. I have no idea how one would go about providing reasonable defense for a small craft in international waters, and *at the same time* be legal to come into… practically any modern port in the world.
