*loud snorts at the ‘Saab Story’*
One of my HS classmates had this old Saab that broke down on him every time he turned around.
He’d lament about it to us in English class to the point that our teacher would actually allot time for him to regale us with his most recent ‘Saab Story’Ok now that I got THAT out of the way:
We have two vehicles, an ‘01 Jimmy and a ‘94 Camry.
The Camry is my husband’s beater to-and-from-work car and it gets some kickass gas mileage (course living 5 miles from work helps too)
I put in $20 in the Jimmy’s tank just the other day and bout fell over to see that amount actually took me to just a touch over 3/4 of a tank (I think gas was $1.69 a gal?)To be honest, I doubt I’ll ever buy an American made car ever again.
The way it looks, the gov’t is gonna end up “bailing out” the big 3. But so far it looks like they aren’t gonna allow em to file any of the variations on bankruptcy that would allow them to change the business model that got them INTO this mess. No, can’t do that, that would allow the companies to tell the UAW that no, we can’t afford to have you guys shaft us at every turn.
So the bottom line is that taxpayer money MUST be spent so the UAW can keep bending over American auto makers. Nope. No thanks. Not me. They wanna play that kind of game, I can’t stop em. But I can damn well stop giving them any of the money I *am* allowed authority over.
