  1. The remarks that got Turban Durbin in this fix are, unfortunately, far closer to the real man than this lame excuse for an apology.

This hardly sounds like sincere regret of wrongdoing.  It sounds much more like sniveling over being caught at it.

I leave you to imagine what would happen to the Minority Wimp if this happened to be 1942 or 1943.

Out with this wretch!  Begone and be damned.

  2. I’m wondering if he was coached on the tears by “cryin’” George Voinovich.

  3. Not one Democrat in Congress will say Durbin was wrong, what does that tell you about their party?

  4. Good lord, another cryer? Like that dumbass ex-govenor of my home state, Paul Patton? I didn’t believe his pitiful show of apology either.

(For those not familiar with the story, Patton tearfully admitted in Sept 2002 to an affair with the owner of a Western KY nursing home. Naturally, the admisson came after denying it to anyone who would listen to him. Good news is we don’t have his sorry ass in office anymore as KY voters put Republican Ernie Fletcher in office. First Republican govenor of KY since 1971)

  5. “Not one Democrat in Congress will say Durbin was wrong, what does that tell you about their party?”

It tells me that right or wrong they’ll stick together and accept any kind of behavior in the name of “unity”.

Consider Trent Lott and what happened to him for congratulating Strom Thurmond on his 100th birthday then consider that Harry Reid saluted Robert Byrd in pretty much the same terms on the floor of the Senate after that.

Then there’s Byrd’s “white niggers” comment Not a peep from the usual lynch mob.

    They’re political whores.

  6. I think anyone who holds high office that makes a statment like this should be run out of town on a rail.

The way the US Military handles itself by and large is beyond dispute, we have the best people in the world looking out for us. and looking out for the other guys too.

To even *think* of equating them with Nazi’s and other historical scum is beyond the pale.

  7. gdonovan,

    Well said.

The first hint of a pseudo-apology is the term:  “I apologize IF YOU took my words wrong...” That puts the onus on those insulted - as if THEY are idiots.

Yeah.  We’ll find the true idiots crying real tears soon enough.

  8. I sent a rather not so nice e-mail to the little asshat about his remarks. After spending 22 years in the Military I couldn’t let this go unanswered. The fool needs to be removed or taken out dragging and screaming as the letter of resignation is delivered on live TV.

  9. This could impact his re-election so negatively that even the dead people of Illinois won’t vote for him!

  10. The miracle of the election day resurection of the dead in Illinois is not the resurection but that they all vote Dem.

  11. Why don’t public figures use the words “enemy” and “sedition” nowadays?  Can’t we speak directly?

Is the Sedition Act of 1918 still on the books, and if so, isn’t it about time we enforced it?  Dickless Turbin would be the poster boy for its application.

I’m boiling with anger even more since he issued his so-called apology, because he couldn’t even stand up like a man and either defend his position or admit he was wrong.
He’s a fucking pussy, a girlie man, a cowardly seditionist, and if this were 1812, he’d be called out on the field of honor or swinging from a gibbet by now.

  12. That’s not the first time I’ve heard the sedition act brought up lately, dick. To be honest, I don’t know the status of the 1918 act. It really doesn’t matter if it’s not being used. I thinkg that bus left town when Hanoi Jane got away with outright treason. I’m also thinking that there’s some sort of immunity that applies to any dickhead spouting off on the floor of the Senate and maybe even the House.

The wonder is that any of them are prosecuted for anything any more. The last one I can think of was Jim “beam me up” Traficant who’s still languishing where he belongs, I think. He definitely needs some company.
