  1. So Pluto, essentially, gets relegated to being a Kuiper Belt Object. Okay.  That’s cool.

But since when did we start naming astronomical objects after cheesy TV shows?  re: “Xena”, “Gabrielle” I’d like permission to throttle the folks at the International Astronomical Union for allowing such a thing.  punching

  2. I think these guys need a real job.

And if for no other reason than simple historical conservation of what everybody “knows”, Pluto should be grandfathered in.

  3. RH is right. Pluto is family by now, and you can never get rid of family. Unless you live in New Jersey.

All this fuss because these guys can’t get their little orreries to balance. Big deal; to do it right you’d have to include every single object orbiting the sun, including all the space junk we’ve left up there. Until that happens, this decision impacts exactly nobody.

  4. Pluto is, was, and always shall be a planet.  It’s a fact, jack, you can bet Uranus on that. LOL

  5. I am 100% in agreement with Rat Patrol (great old show BTW) on this!  I will continue to consider Pluto a planet no matter what these nitwits say.  Not that it matters.  I will also teach my children it is a planet and that goofballs voted to call it something else.  I will also steer them toward astronomy so when they excell they can be the driving force behind recognizing Pluto once again!
