Doomed

  1. I held my nose and voted straight Republican.  In Ohio, that was mostly a waste, as Blackwell lost to the Taft disaster(another Republican that acted like a Democrat) and Dewine lost because he acted like a Democrat anyway.  At least the 1st District re-elected Chabot, a Republican.

The problems for Republicans were twofold.  First, Bush just plained screwed up with Iraq.  It has been botched and really, what does it have to do with the war on terror?  If he could have explained that to the American people, they might not have turned against him.  He should have stopped at Afghanistan if he didn’t have a PLAN for Iraq.

Secondly, the Republican Congress acted like Democrats.  They ignored the Conservative base, which is about 95% of the Republican party, and conservatives were rightly annoyed.

Why settle for faux Democrats when you can have the real thing?

For the long run, conservatives really need to rethink living in the Republican house.  Maybe it is time to move out.  To me that wouldn’t be a bad idea as most Americans are conservative, for the most part, anyway.

  2. Grumpyguy,

I am all for moving out. I am having a hard time finding a suitable neighborhood. Any suggestions?

  3. Damn, this one was my big one. I am disappointed. Those who chose not to vote to punish GOP happen to punish America, also. My personal experience wasn’t that bad, though. I manage to reelect QuasiRINO Tom Davis for VA11, Corey Stewart for Chairman of Prince William County’s Board of Supervisors and pass the Marriage Amendment for VA. Electing Allen was my most important mission. Well, I tried my best. Now’s sitting time, time to see the Donks ridiculize themselves out of Congress. I hope they don’t destroy America in the process. Alternative Media, as opossed to GSM, is what we need to focus in developing. Blogs as this one are our best tools to spread our views. After all, this has been one of the less damaging 6th year midterm elctions ever. It has been the standard to lose many more seats, so contrary to what MSN says, we’re still in good shape.
It’s time to make powerful statements. For those like me, who consider themselves as 2nd Amendmend defenders, we have a chance. The National Ammo Day is this November 19. Buy at least 100 rounds of your favorite ammo between Nov 11 and Nov 19. That will send a very loud message to those that want to change the rules and kick the gameboard.

  4. no suggestions, but just an observation.  That the Republican party is like living at your parents home.  It is somewhere to live, but it isn’t YOUR home.  Some conservatives it seems went to the Libertarians (see the vote totals for Montana and Missouri--they sunk both Republicans), some conservatives didn’t vote, and others voted for “conservative” Democrats.

I say conservatives need their own home.  Limited government.  Strong defense.  Strong borders.  Support for the basics of morality.  Support for patriotism and virtue.  Support for free markets tempered by the above support for virtue, morality, and patriotism.

Thus, in our own home, we know the rules, hell, we set the rules.  And hopefully, we then say goodbye to Rinos.

  6. I gritted my teeth and voted straight republican as well- expcept for my local state rep, who had no republican opposition. In that case, I voted Libertarian… her only opposition.

Amazing how the republicans have given up on CA- consider, the next House (state) district over, is republican. why didn’t they try to take this one?
