doing it all night long

  1. I hope that your trip was nice. We aren’t doing any traveling/family visits at all of late. We’s too po’ and old and for the kids - it sucks for different reasons. I’ve been a great m-i-l, got taken apart a decade (God, has it really been that long?!?) for ‘babying’ the two younger kids et al. Anyway son’s oldest (his stepson) was moved to Grandma’s when he turned 21. Well Grandma’s family there (her Mom and twin brother and his family) developed a serious family problem when her Mom (the family Grandma) got sick and had to be taken care of. Long story short - two homes (all three are on the same street) are virtually a wreck due to the twin’s druggie child and all of the lovely German family heirlooms are trash. Soooo - now 25 year old son, his girlfriend and their 4 cats are living in the basement of my son’s home. I have remained silent about 9 cats and them allowing such an old adult child to return. I know that - when this happened - the economy sucked. And this son is a good kid (he was able to transfer his job - so kept his 5 years of work/benefits up) but that is what he still is - a kid. He is just as unfocused as our son - but our son, has a medical excuse for still behaving like a teen. Never finished puberty and due to a problem in addition to the burn - was not able to continue on the drugs to do that artificially. At least he does more than just play video games - so his mind has grown somewhat into adulthood. I’ve known my step-grandson since he was born (his Mom and my older daughter were best friends in high school) - and he is a good kid. They are good parents too. Sadly - current society doesn’t encourage the kids to grow up and be adults anymore. Our younger daughter is learning valuable lessons with these kitties. Adult life sucks big time. And current society isn’t helping at all. I will try to send you a pic of the little energizer bunnies on crack today. Since it’s monsoon season again - I can’t mow this morning (YEAH!!!)

  2. Well I hope the monsoon moves east to us. We haven’t had rain in weeks.

Yes, we had a nice little family get together, all 6 of us. Had a nice visit, a good meal, plenty to eat and drink. My bread went quickly, even though it was a high hydration variation that I thought was a fail. Tastes great, looks awful. Would have had a great ice cream birthday cake for dessert, but she put it in the fridge when we got there ("it says move to fridge before serving") but by the time we got to that, 6 hours after we got there, it had melted. So we had birthday ice cream soup, which wasn’t bad, but not the same. grin

I now actual know one human being who has had the virus. Ex GF of SIL’s husband’s sister, she felt sick, got tested, came back positive and was over it in TWO days.

I am going for the PCR test Wed AM. That’s the nasal swab thing that only tells you if you are currently infected. I have no symptoms, but it’s free and there are plenty of local test sites (CVS, Walmart etc). No prescription needed, but make an appointment. What I want is the antibody test, the serum one with the blood sample. That tells you if you’ve had it and gotten over it. I’ll make some phone calls but they are a bit hard to find locally. Because I really would like to visit my mom, who is 85 and in the very high risk category.
