I agree with most things Heffer says. The man should run for Parliament. He would get my vote. As I stated earlier I think the American electorate will do the right thing when it comes to the election and they will see through Hussain Obama wtf is his name anyway? They will realise he is a man of straw and cast their vote for McCain. (I hope)
btw don’t know why i am getting stars and bars in my sig as I’m currently in the “Great White North”
Ok, some of it is accurate, but i think the guy takes too much for granted. We really aren’t as simple as he’s making us out to be.
While it is true that a HUGE percentage of the black vote is going for Obother BECAUSE he is black, and a large part of the kiddie vote will be Socialist anyway, it probably is NOT true that 20% of the voters won’t vote for him because of his race. They won’t vote for him because he’s a Democrat. Or they won’t vote for him because he’s an Idiot. Race has so little to do with it, it isn’t even there. Which chaps my drawers, because Colin or Condi could’ve run too. Now, that would have been something to see.
McCain: the least repulsive Democrat running in 08.
Hey Lyndon, the stupid thing thinks I’m in Germany. Go figure. Global rerouting maybe?
I’ll grant you, I’d call it a safe bet that 20% of the racist whites in the deep south would fail to vote for him *for that reason*, and that chaps my butt. But it doesn’t chap my butt as badly as the fact that over 90% of blacks WILL vote for him *for that reason* and yet somehow THAT racism is okay.
The only place where I seriously disagree with the reporter is where he says “people are used to driving long distances in cars that do 15 miles to the gallon.” I suppose that may be true by the standards of Europe. I’m not sure (I didn’t actually go *check* the mileage), but it wouldn’t surprise me to find that driving from DC to Boston is equivalent to driving from Venice to Munich.
However, 15 MPG has been something to gripe about since the late 70s. The seriously wealthy, sure. People with full size pickup trucks *who actually need the cargo space and towing capacity*, sure. Everyone else has been grumbling about that kind of MPG for 30 years now. Hell, even the muscle car I had in 1974 got better mileage than that, back when gas was under $1 a gallon.
That’s true. Just about any car less than 25 years old gets at least 25mpg on the highway. We have this thing called overdrive these days.
Grumpy, Europe is a lot smaller than you think. DC to Boston is almost 400 miles, whereas Venice to Munich is only 190 miles. Less than half the distance. You’d have to drive Venice to Dresden, on the other side of Germany, to go the same distance. Which is just about the same length trip as London England to Edinburgh Scotland: a day long drive nearly equal to the North-South length of the entire country of England.
If you wanted to do a bit of work, you could do some map overlay cut and pasting, and you’d see that England is just about the same size as New Mexico. The entire country of Ireland fits inside Colorado with plenty of room to spare. Italy is a good fit into Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
