Morning Skip.
I agree with the fact that a boycott wouldn’t have any monetary effect on Chavez, when it comes to oil, boycotts never do. A Free market, by nature, will not slit its own throat because of anyone’s politics. Someone will buy what Chavez is selling.
However, there is another side to this boycott deal that we as Americans should embrace and stand together on, that being principle. We shouldn’t allow anyone to trash talk and disparage our President. Like him or not the President is a symbol of our great nation and the spirit of the people who make the U.S. what it is.
Sure, Chavez will sell his oil to someone else, so what? We should be sending him and every other third world commie dictator the message that we are not like the sniveling cowards they rule over, we bite. We should never assist anyone in cutting our collective throats.
As for the 7-Eleven deal, does anyone know where Tower Energy Group gets their oil/gas from? I just wonder if they, like ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and ChevronTexaco, are at least partially supplied by Chavez.
I don’t believe in “symbolic” measures, CS. What’s wrong with dropping a JDAM on the Presidential palace in Venezuela? We could always apologize later and say it was a defective guidance system. Hell, it worked on Khaddafi Duck.
Like we say here in the great state of Alabama; “We just touched him up about the edges a bit”
