  1. Interesting. It seems the price of gas in America is determined by everything BUT supply and demand.

  3. ”...little french cars driven by a hairdryers..”,
Now bulldog, it’s not quite that bad; powered by lawnmower engines maybe, but never hair dryers.

  4. While I would prefer a permenent (all) tax break - I 1) find it offensive that these congress critters point the fingers every where but at themselves (taxes, a million formulations, refusing to allow new refineries, no approval for oil drilling, taxes, corporate tax breaks, enviro wacko restrictions, and did I mention taxes) 2) want to disregard the problem and any solution by conducting an investigation that is a rehash of the 70s investigation of the exact same things.

Is this some kind of pattern - a redo of the rise of Sen Kerry; the Summer of Sheehan, the politicians turning on the war, the anti-war movement, the delusions of grandeur of the media - this is all from the vietnam era playbook now they are rehashing the gas garbage.

News Flash, it is 2006. Let’s get with the reality of today. We have terrorists who want to destroy our way of life (who are not confined to one or even a few countries - but throughout the world), we have a nut (or 2 or 3) really trying hard to get hold of nuclear bombs, we have a small 2.5 world country trying to infiltrate us and turn us into them, and we have a government that is either too scared to stand for anything or don’t care, but more than willing to solve any and all problems by raising taxes and then blaming anyone and everyone else.

Oil Companies, gas stations, war, supply and demand, middle east religious insanity and collusion, taxes and stupid laws, worthless cars that eat gas at astounding rates and ineffective politicians all contribute to the high price of gas. So go fix what you can.

  5. Naw, it’s those teenie weenie li’l Brit cars thatr are powered by wind-up hairdryers… cool grin  The Fwench cars are powered by an anaemic hamster in a treadmill.

REAL CARS have at least 8 Cylinders.

  8. Big effing deal.  Last week the gas price at the pump jumped $0.14 in a day.  This Jersey beaner is just offering another feel good, do nothing law that buys him some face time with the MSM.

  9. O’Reilly last night:  U.S. could ("COULD" but probably won’t for some time) be completely switched over to ethanol for auto fuel in 5 years.  C’mon, if BRAZIL of all places can do it…

I think we may be looking at the last hurrah of big oil...and they’re gonna’ take us for all they can, while they can.  Supply and demand, nothing.

  10. As a NJ resident, I could give a rats ass about the gas tax, Menendez was not elected as he was appointed by now Gov Jon Corzine. What NJ residents need is a 50% cut in property taxes, now that would be real reform! Mendendez is a career political hack and I think our other senator Lautenberg must have passed away since he has not been seen since he came out of retirement.
Working in the oil bus the last 25 years,I can tell you that you will not find a harder working people. If the environmental lobby was not passing and mandating recipes, gas would be a whole lot cheaper! Look at soon to be sunset MTBE which was mandated as an oxygenate ny the EPA, now found to be a carcinogenic in the water table. cool grin

  11. Me too, Bulldog. I had to cut back driving my trusty old Ford pickup to only when absolutely necessary since its 302 V8 drinks gas like no tomorrow. Good thing for me the new Sabre kicks ass, takes names, and gets 40 mpg!
