China finally wakes up! Japans prime minister visit to the US this month was no tour of Graceland but a bit of strategy on how to bring China to bear on their unruly cousins to the northeast. China fears Japan, and there are centuries of history to support their fears. Having Japan a power in the region will put in check any plans China has on expansion. Many years ago when working in the region a Chinese friend explained it like this: when heads up mano to mano in a fight between a Chinese and Japanese, the Chinese would win, in a war, hands down the Japanese win due to teamwork. the Chinese will argue as to who is in charge.
Banzai!

Where will the Marco Polo Bridge be located this time? Across the Yalu maybe?
Incidentally, it continues to look more and more as if Doug was right all along....
“...but the damn politicians always stop short and leave us with another war to fight!”
George was right, too....
I wouldn’t want to be in Jiang Zemin’s shoes right about now.
