ST. LOUIS (AP) April 20, 2005—A St. Louis police officer shoots and kills a man who reportedly pointed a pellet gun at him. Police say the shooting happened late last night at an apartment building, where an officer was sent for a reported domestic disturbance. The woman caller said her 47-year-old son, Larry Travis, was behaving strangely. When the officer arrived and was talking to the mother outside, Travis came out yelling, saying he had a gun. The man apparently pulled what turned out to be a pellet gun designed to look like a real firearm. Police say Travis was shot after ignoring the officer’s demands that he drop the weapon. Travis later died at a hospital. The name of the 27-year-old officer has not been released. He’s on administrative leave from the department during an investigation of the matter.

Moral of this story: always check to make sure your gun is at least as powerful (if not more) as the other guy’s gun before threatening him and if the other guy is a cop, re-think your strategy very carefully.

    R.I.P. DUMBASS!
