  1. Detroit may be the worst of the bunch, but it is part of a bunch. St Louis, East St Louis, Newark, and Buffalo are all in the same boat. Once great cities turning to rust, ruled by the left, abandoned by white folks and industry, hotbeds of crime and despair. Vast areas of all these cities are turning back to prairie, fields, and forests. That’s so far beyond urban blight it’s come out the other side.

  2. Reminds me of one of those end of the world movies.

  3. Recently visited the Henry Ford Museum with a friend who is a 30-year retired GM worker.
All we wanted to do was get the hell out of town as fast as we could after the tour.
It’s everything Moscow turned into in the ‘50s....

  4. Many areas of Detroit look very rural: a house surrounded by fields of tall grasses, maybe another house 500 yards away. Streets that go block after block with no houses on them. The only way that Detroit as a city can survive is to shrink its borders, something that Flint has been debating doing. By shrinking the borders, the remaining public services can do a better job. The newly freed areas can just become fields.

  5. How can we blame the government for the lousy cars that Detroit put out, and at a higher cost, to pay the union worker.  No people, it’s not the government, democrats or republicans that ruined the prosperity in Detroit.....it was complacency! And the American auto buyers had become disenfranchised with the big auto makers, they still are to some extent.  Although much better cars are now being produced here in the USA,(successfully I might add)unfortunately for Detroit (along with the union stonghold there)the roof has fallen in…

  6. Those that refuse to adapt to the future are doomed to be trapped in the past.
I do remember being in detroit back in 78. Frankly downtown was scary then and now I wouldnt even bother taking an exit off the freeway.

  7. I just posted this comment to another article here but it does seem so appropriate to this one too. The fault lies with a combination of using entitlement programs to create a gimme hand-out populace, unions who got into business and government and have caused more problems and not really solved any problems at all and of course government local, state and Federal who have mandated, regulated and taxed America into the descent it is now spiraling into at record speed. Top it off with corruption - and who as a citizen really cares if it is Big Union or Big Auto doing the influence buying - at least for me - Big Auto produces something which is much much more than Unions and government do at all.

    Now onto the appropriate comment:
Interesting - no big surprise at all. I will only add - to highlight the arrogance and duplicity of The Won, this tidbit from his stellar, heartfelt written autobiography - Dreams From My Father -

I instructed my mother on the various ways that foreign donors and international development organizations like the one she was working for bred dependence in the Third World.

    page 123

How terrible of him to see the wrongness of it as a young man yet spend the rest of his life doing it to his own country and pretending it to be the best thing. I won’t even touch the arrogance of someone so young - not even yet starting out - to ‘instruct’ their own mother - seems like little BHO never has liked anything anyone has done, other than his father and himself, who have done no wrong.

And still, and still the entitlement crowd votes these corrupt, duplicitous and power grabbing tyrants who are just slush funding the money, voting themselves all the bennies and lying to the people.

It just boggles the mind - and yeah - all the Republicans/conservatives who refused to vote for McAmnesty and or vote at all - You Are Part of The Problem too - If every registered R and I and Not Registered and all the others voted for the crappy R - America would not be here now.

If every American had stood up and said not No but Hell No to the election fraud (and non-profit fraud) that is ACORN - America would not be here now.

If every American had stood up and said not No but Hell No to the election intimidation that was Black Panther Thug tactics (and the resultant Thug Administration dropping of the charges) - America would not be here now.

If every American had stood up and said not No but Hell No to the election fraud that was Franken - America would not be here now.

If every American had stood up and said not No but Hell No to the election fraud (in direct violation of the law that the Liberal Lion himself passed but begged to be violated when he realized it was going to bite him in the a**) - America would not be here now.

And if every American had stood up and said not NO but Hell No to the election fraud that was NY 23 - America would not be here now.

Understand their tactic - it is to lie, cheat, and fraudulently steal every single election - and to make America not States joined in a Union but rather a single Federal Union on it’s way to an NAU to the then desired One Global Government (and I dare say, that The Won has visions of World Leadership in his head) - so We The People must respond in like fashion - We Are Minnesota, We Are Michigan, We Are New York and We Must join together and fight the battles to win the War.

    Now.
