  1. I really liked this guy. I always thought he was a little crazy, but you have to admire someone who would stick his thumb up a crock’s ass just to see what it would do. He died what he liked to do…

  2. Am I the only person who thought Irwin was not only the world’s biggest idiot, but wanted to throw things at the TV every time he opened his mouth and out spewed that idiot Aussie excuse for English?

Darwin strikes again, thereby proving that there is a God, and He is just.

So will the air the episode where he got killed? That’s about the only Irwin I’d watch.

  3. Prof I have to say I am in agreement. The stunt where Irwin brought his baby face to face with a crocodile was the act of a moron. He was bloody annoying, but all the same my thoughts go out to his family.  As Stanley says at least he died doing what he enjoyed.

  4. We all do stupid crap in our lives, so I’m not going to take this opportunity to speak ill of the recently departed.  That’s just low class.

He died doing what he loved and that makes him a lucky man.  The fact that he got famous for it was just icing on the cake.

  5. He was the most enthusiastic energetic person I’ve ever seen. He probably could have made a fat career out of motivational speaking tours, but animals were his thing. His death is a terrible shame, but we all saw it coming.

  6. Freak Accident.. Australia has many dangers.. but it didn’t really matter that this was a stingray or not.. a Punctured heart is deadly in most cases unless you are seconds away from the operating table with ready surgeons.. and then still most likely fatal..

Many of us have probaly done stupid things that we are in some cases lucky to have escaped with our lives from..  just because he had the Bravery to face these creatures face to face doesn’t mean he should be derided.. although the incident with his son was probaly a little out of line..

    RIP..

  7. Personally, I thought all the crap he caught by taking his baby into the croc pit was just that - Crap. He was fully aware of where that croc was at all times and would never have placed that child in jeopardy.
    Steve Erwin was an icon.
He brought many families together, to watch his antics with the animals he loved.
I always got the feeling that this man was living his dream.
How many of us get to say that?
    I will miss Steve.
God bless his wife and children.

  8. Sure, all of us have done stupid things, but few of us have made a career out of doing stupid things, like Irwin. I feel sorry for his kids because their mother is as stupid as their father was, and they’ll likely grow up to be idiots.

Oh, and as if that weren’t enough, I hate Irwin for starting a whole string of TV idiots who can’t speak English.

  9. His website is down at the moment. Too bad, I loved watching this goofy guy and it’s always fun to imitate his over the top enthusiasm and mannerisms.

  10. Skipper:
Your remarks so accurately reflect my sentiments that I won’t even attempt to add anything more.

  11. http://animal.discovery.com/fansites/crochunter/crochunter.html

discovery channel crocodile hunter is still up.. and has still has him walking out on it and talking.. top check this out article on it is about his death so that has been updated..

they seem to have just changed His and His wife’s crocdilehunter.com site to the press release about him being killed..it came up earlier with that but apparently now is suffering from all the hits…

  12. Come on I prefered watching Irwin’s antics to the old Perkins stuff that was as mind numbing as it was tedious. Fox and Friends played a segment when Irwin and (of course Brian) went completely childish wresting stuffed alligators. He is just among the new crowd of tv personalities making certain subjects fun - like the Mythbusters who are also over-educated boys making a living having fun.

They join rodeo guys, rock stars, pc game makers and hef - who make a bundle doing something fun and acting like boys.

    You are all just jealous.

Now to see really stupid - watch The Simple Life, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Super Nanny or Country Fried Videos - those people are truly stupid and as I’ve said about Jessica Simpson - they need to be neutered.

  13. Steve was a personality, the more we mocked him, the more he played it up.  He used his fame for good things, expanding and upgrading his parents habitat zoo, for one.  He knew the joke was on him, and he played on that.  He was fun to watch, cause you knew he would do something we would never think of doing.

The ray getting him in the heart was just a fluke.  Any where else and he most likely would have lived. He may have provoked it, but I’m willing to bet he was trying to teach us something when he did it.

Perkin’s “Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom” was from back in the days when if they didn’t give it a sense of scientific exploration, nobody would have watched it.  It dosen’t matter that they would set up all the shots and “encounters”.

Marlin Steve and Jacques, they all did their best to keep us aware of all the animals that are around us.

  14. Yep,he was over the top but that was half the fun.He taught a lot of people about wildlife and having respect for it.I was watching Austin Stevens the other week and he was bitten by a cobra I believe. It’s a dangerous way to make a living but the people who do it enjoy it and feel the dangers are outweighed by the benefits of educating the public.I personaly learned a lot watching Steve,Austin,Jeff Corwin etc.

  15. Rightwingprof,

You must be a total lowlife to think that the death of a great man like Steve Irwin is “just”.  And to say you’d only watch footage of him dieing is even more pathetic.  All you mention in your mindless posts is that you don’t like his English, and that he’s an idiot?!?  His career was genious not idiocy.  He brought a respect and fascination of wildlife to millions of people all over the world while promoting environmental conservation.  I’ve read dozens of posts on his death and you’re the only POS who had something negative to say about him.  Says something about you I think!

  16. There is no reason for anyone to speak of a dead guy like that. Steve Irwin ,unlike many other souless people on this planet that rape and murder everyday, was busy raising a family and doing good things for wildlife and the world as a whole. That seems to be an alien concept to some people and thats to bad. How ever it is not I that makes them a small person, it is they that do that to themselves.

I thank Steve irwin for doing something that most people couldn’t do and thats make it interesting to watch his programs after how many years of Marlin Perkins doing his show for many, many years till it became almost a parody of itself.

  17. MD4Bush:
You’re making observations that I was VERY tempted to make earlier. Just didn’t want to start a big fight. GOOD JOB!

  18. Steve-o definitely lived every minute of his all too short life to the fullest. His enthusiasm and his passion for what he believed in was very inspirational.  I daresay he lived more in one day than many folks live in their entire life… His show always brought me joy. Yeah, there were times that I had doubts that he was going to have to worry about retirement, sooner or later some venomous critter was going to be just a bit faster on the draw.  There were a couple of moments with Taipans and Fierce Snakes out in the desert, that his facial expression said “Wow!, that was just a little TOO close, mate”.

In my own limited experience, I’ve had more than one “close call” with a rattler, a lancehead and a sea-snake. More out of ignorance, than of bravado, just didn’t really know what the heck I was doing in my somewhat mis-spent youth.

MD4Bush: Right on!!!!  I couldn’t have said it better myself, and as tempted as I was to light up the flamethrower and give RWP a proper Southern Barbecuing, but then I figured that his rant wasn’t worthy of a response. Don’t wan’t to start another “HSA” brushfire…

  19. RightWingProf: it is really bad form to spank the deceased. Sure he did some stupid things and he talked funny but that is no reason to disparage him in death. Let him go in peace.

The Rest Of you: RWP has a right to his opinion, however much we disagree. Let’s let Steve rest in peace. His life was ... interesting, to say the least.

How many of us can say we had the impact he had on as many lives as he touched with his corny act? He was a real trooper. Show some respect for that, if nothing else.

  20. Crikey, that had to hurt.  Rest in peace Steve.
