  1. POLICE ACADEMY!!??  How dare you desecrate the theme from “Patton” like that! One is a great movie about a great man and the other is..is..is, well I can’t find the words to describe such a waste of film stock. wink

  2. Well excuuuuuuuuuuuse me!

No, seriously, he’s right. I was wrong. But the main riff of both tunes is highly similar. Well, to me at any rate. I’m sure Corsair won’t find a single friggin note, measure, or meter in common. But I was talking about the soundtracks, and don’t give a flying flaming coyote about the films themselves.

    Judge for yourself.
Patton, go to the :47 second mark and listen to 1:07.

Police Academy, go to the :15 second mark and listen to :30.

So, was Folk ripping off Jerry Goldsmith? Both are responsible for dozens and dozens of film scores. Maybe after years of this they think too much alike?

  3. They must have been best buds, because if there was ever a case of plagiarism, this is it.
BTW, I’m not some Fwenchy-fwench metric snob, so I don’t know nuthin’ about no meter.

  5. Guys I’d do some shooting too - if we didn’t have neighbors so close - we can see what each other is having for dinner, stupid park ‘police,’ not to mention idiots who fancy themselves wilderness ‘trekkers’ walking the paths in the woods (it is a ‘nature’ preserve - translation city talk for a bunch of untended woods harboring the most scavenging of animals - which you can’t kill).

We do use the airsoft when the squirrels use the gazebo roof as a race track or get too cozy with ‘shopping’ at the Ward commissary. When they start bringin’ the yungins’ up to introduce them - then the big guns are coming out.

Spent all Sunday AM listing to our hoot owl (motions sensitive) going off - never could see who was prowling around. Sneaky little veggie eaters.

However, we both acknowledge should the worst happen - we have a lot of fresh food on the paw and hoof right at our back door!

    Only in America!
