I read in news from home in USA that we’re now paying 3 bucks a gal. for gas . Ppl bitching about that and I don’t blame ya.
But the Brits are paying upward of $11.00 a gallon. Try that on for size!
Time to come home perhaps?
The price is mostly tax over there. And the talking heads on the news here have mentioned that oil futures speculation is responsible for over 40% of the price increase here.
Gee, what would happen if several big nations formed “OPIS” (Organization of Petroleum Importing States) and flat out told the producers they’ll pay $35/bbl and that’s it? Oh, and we stop sending you food and stuff until you agree. And don’t forget all your money is in our banks.
Or if the gov closed the “enron loophole” you’ve heard about?
That tax is like Germany - it is why there is not a closet to be had in the country - they are taxed (it has a door, it’s a room).
Drew I agree - the US needs to stop flowing money and supplies to countries that aren’t abiding by the rules (China, talk about ignoring International Law!?!) or subverting the current World situation - most of the Middle East (always)and of course our own sovereignty (Mexico) - in anything and everything (especially politics) - follow the money. And if you stop the flow of money - maybe they will start listening. Or not - and then what the heck - we’ve saved enough to keep knocking the stuffin out of al-Qaeda.
A real win-win situation in my book.
