  2. ...if the deceased did not make adequate provision for his relatives in their will.

Since when did anyone have to make ‘adequate provision’ for relatives at all? Barring the spouse, of course. What if you didn’t have anything to make ‘adequate provision’ with?

    Define ‘adequate provision’!!

I can bloody well leave my property to whomever I want. I don’t even have to provide for adult children. In fact, I’m not leaving anything to anyone except my wife.

And should she pre-decease me? I’m spending it all! If anything should be left:

then all my worldly wealth of which I die possessed shall go to, uh, to—to found a home for indigent and superannuated pickpockets, prostitutes, panhandlers, piemen, priggers, and other unworthy poor starting with ‘P’

  3. Lyndon, it never occurred to me to look for the story on YT, but I posted it from the newspaper. This is better of course. And you’re right. It’s lunacy and more.

  4. Yikes! LyndonB, that’s just nasty.

Yes, fence it off. Better yet, remove the tarmac. I own the land, I say “no tarmac”.

It occurs to me that the British might want to either enforce the Magna Carta, or shove a newer version of it down the Councils’ collective throats.
