HOOO. LEEE. CRAAAAPP.
I remember a ~25ft model of a B-52 built a few years ago by some Brits. RC, 8 micro turbofans, realistic undercarriage and the while bit. During an exhibition flight in cloudy weather, it caught a wind gust and augured into the ground. Even the boom was pretty realistic… :-(
If the rockets don’t ignite simultaneously it’s going to be a very short flight.
May the Force Be With Them.
Awesomeness. Old news(saw it on TheForce.net a while back), but it’s still pretty wizard.
Class M engines? Holy cow. Guess I’ve been out of the picture a long time. When I was a tyke doing competitive model rocketry (belonged to the NAR long before I belonged to the NRA!) about the strongest engine you could get was a D. (Yes, I belong to the D-13 generation) Sure, a couple college nerds had E and F engines, but M? And our birds were limited to no more than a pound, not upwards of 450.
If I remember my basic rocket rules, this “model” is going to need about 5000lbs of thrust to get off the ground.
This thing is a missile. An honest-to-God missile, just with no warhead. Think about that one all you gunnies ... what these guys are doing is entirely legal. RC controlled, supersonic guided rockets that weigh about the same as a motorcycle and can reach several miles altitude. And you thought you were badass with your .50 BMG Garretts.
Of course, they use this power only for good, right?
Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick ASS!!!
Want one....
Ooops, it PRANGED. The thing was unstable on launch. Via the Emporer, here’s a link to the Gizmodo page with the video.
