1. re we really saying that our education system is so poor and work ethic so diminished that Britain can no longer produce staff suitable for a sandwich shop?

   Yes. 100%. I’ve read several articles that say exactly that; the generational welfare system combined with the globalization loss of industry and the unchecked immigration from Poland et al - countries that still use an apprentice system for OJT - have doomed 2 entire generations of Brits to worthlessness. And those layabouts are busy breeding ASAP.
