I was thinking of the exact same thing for exactly the same reason. But I do believe I have one (count ‘em, one) 78 buried in the collection somewhere. Albums and a vast collection of 45s (kids stories). Plus we have two flats of cassettes still hanging around, a half dozen shelves (each) of cds, vhs and dvds. I just wish they stopped changing the ‘formats’ - hubby always has to upgrade. I know several of our most favorites are on vinyl, cassette, cd and the computer. I’m still trying to figure out how to sneak the Dark Side of the Moon out of my ex’s townhouse (you’re there in St Louis, want a job?!?) Last I heard it was worth 2 grand.(Yes he has an original, in great condition). It is the reason I took the Elvis albums from my mom’s - hate him with a passion but I knew they’d be collectors one day.
Dark Side of the Moon worth 2 grand ?!?!?!?!
I have it in several formats: LP album, 8 track tape, cassette, and CD.
BTW my buds over at C. Crane in Fortuna California also have this unit available, with free shipping.
(just a little bittsy shamelsss plug)

I’m still using a 1971 vintage Pioneer PL-50 turntable, which I bought at the Long Binh PX, and home built tube phono stage, linestage preamp and monoblock amplifiers, into home built “Karlson” speakers (a 1950s design by John Karlson and Wayne Green, W2NSD). Retro is good…
