  1. I just hope that someone has the backbone to point out that the ACoE pointed out (more than once?) the levees could not stand a cat whatever huricane or direct hit. And two that someone (Mayor, City Council, State) used levee money for a study on a bridge? or some such.

This is just another example of everyone failing and now trying to toss the blame onto someone else. Tough, I just hope that it falls like so much else onto the lowest ‘position’ as then our esteemed Mayor Nagin will take the fall. [Here is a question, if half the city did not return, why? perhaps might it be that it was ‘entitlement’ groups that 1)owned nothing and had no jobs to return to? and/or 2) those who saw an out (either in higher entitlements where they ended up or who wanted out long ago and now had an ‘excuse’)? Does that in itself not also ‘tarnish the city’s reputation, that half don’t want to come back?]

I guess he thinks simply because he’s black - he’ll get a pass. And given that ‘Frozen Assests’ Jefferson is not cooling his heels in jail - he’s probably right.

    What a crock.

  2. Can we just give Raycist Nagro, New Orleans and the whole state of Louisiana back to Fwance now???  PLEASE!?!  Mississippi got pounded just as hard, but they’ve managed to get their shit together, what’s up with LA.??

  3. Louisiana should have its statehood revoked!  If residents continue to vote for these asshats they deserve their resulting depraved surroundings.  Not another dollar!!

I honestly can not grasp the ineptitude of Louisiana.  The state and local governement’s malfeasance is beyond rational comprehension.

For all of you that live there, my condolences.

  4. How about stop living below sea level, how about assuming personal responsibilty for what goes in that swampy backwater chocolate city?. How ‘bout you stop your anonymous finger pointing?. It’s Bushitlercheneyhaliburton’s fault, not ours!.
    crazy

  5. Annonymous, you make a point except that, where is the CITY responsibilty for making sure the levees are safe - if I(NO) doubt government (which they appear to since Katrina) why not commission a private study (or read the countless studies you cited) and then DO SOMETHING.

Why is it always government and then when failure occurs governments ‘fault’?

Both ways accomplishes nothing - ever.

And thus we have a ‘War’ on poverty that has increased the proportion of children in poverty, a ‘War’ on drugs that has increased the addicted to the point of politicians are considering legalization, and a ‘War’ on crime that has made the Police the suspects.

New Orleans, the failures of the levees, Mayor Nagin, ‘Frozen Assets’ Jefferson, Gov Blanco are proof and case in point for LESS GOVERNMENT not MORE.

  6. I remember seeing a link shortly after Katrina hit, to a law suit and an injunction that stopped the Corps from further work on the Levees because of damage to the ecosystem. The suit was brought by the Sierra Club if memory serves me correctly.
