1. The Americans will fall prey to the extortion mailly because Obummer hasn’t got the balls to puish back and that will result in International airline fares bumping up $50.

   However,

   The Euroweenies will cave in to the Chinks because the Chinese already own the Euro.

   But, (as usual in Europe) the “deal” will not be made public. Since most European citizens are treated like mushrooms by their overpaid, crooked political masters......

   Kept in the dark and fed shit!

2. First time ever that I find myself saying “Good for China!”

   Modern jet engines are probably twice as efficient as the ones from the 60s and 70s. They make less noise, burn cleaner, and use quite a bit less fuel. The latest designs on the new Boeing 787 use 15% less fuel and make half the noise of current engines, which themselves are quieter, cleaner, and far more efficient than the designs of 30 years ago; the engines are designed to significantly reduce CO2 and NO emissions. So there is no point for this tax in the first place; the entire industry will switch to the latest generation engines because they make economic sense, and saving money is the name of the game.

3. I have to say I am always amazed at how the government determines that something is horrible and should be stopped, but then thinks it is perfectly okay to do as long as you give them money.

   For example:

   CO2 is bad but give the govt money and you can do it.
   Alcohol is bad, pay a high tax for it, it’s okay.
   Cigarettes are evil, pay a high tax for them, smoke all you want.
   Big gas guzzling cars are destroying mother earth, pay the gas guzzler fee and you can drive a boat on the highway.

   How is this any less stupid than during the medieval times when the churches would condemn sinners only to absolve them of their sins if you gave money to the church.
   Sin all you want as long as your penance is high. 

   Seems all is forgiven if you pay the right sum of money to the right diety.
