  1. When we first bought our computer, my (then) 6-year-old son and I searched for Disney.  I was horrified at the number of porn sites that came up.

It’s sad that we even need this law, but as I always say, we only have as muich freedom as the greatest jerk in our society allows us to have.

  3. Yep, there are so many porn sites with names close to things my 9 year old looks for that we have to find the site she wants and book-mark it for her. the kind of sick demented freak that would put that filth on a site that kids might accidentally come across needs to be horse whipped at the very least.

  6. Once more we have government legislating morality. And spending time and money to pass a nearly worthless, unenforceable, feel-good piece of garbage “for your own good” at the expense of your freedom, instead of actually working towards solving the problem.

Sorry folks, but that is what this part of this bill is. Several of the other parts - the enhanced sex offender registration, for example, I feel are cruel and unusual punishment. No, I don’t want a sex offender living near me, but honestly, if they’ve done their time they should be as free as everyone else. If you don’t want them loose on the streets then keep them in jail longer. Or execute them. And let’s make sure the “sex offender” laws are cleaned up first so that only real sex offenders get tagged with this label, not too young folks overcome by passion who each happen to differ in age a couple years the other side of some magical “line”.

And the last part, “Prohibiting the insidious practice engaged in by certain sexually explicit web sites of hiding innocuous terms in the hypertext markup language so that a search for those terms on the Internet yields links to the sexually explicit web sites.”? Can’t you see that this is a COMPLETE denial of freedom of speech? You run a sexually oriented site therefore you can’t have the words “happy bunny”, “sailboat”, “wheelbarrow”, or “donkey” in your content? What a total load of shit. Notice that the reverse isn’t specified - that non-sexual sites can’t have a list of sexually related words in their content, which many sites do, specifically to increase their hit ratio with search engines. Wrong wrong wrong and 100% unconstitutional!

Oh, BTW, who decides what a “sexually oriented” web site is? What if some site runs the occasional picture of a nearly naked lady, or lists a link that takes you to see one? What about blogs that accept ads from anybody because they need every dollar they can get? Why, those are sex sites too aren’t they, and if they don’t enforce that their viewers are all over the age of consent then they’re DIRTY PERVERTS!!!

I don’t want kids hitting these pages (Seems to me there was a move a while back to put all these sites in a new domain, .xxx instead of .com, .org, etc. And that got shot down somehow.), but the parental predator paranoia movement has gone too far. If you have kids and you’re so afraid that they’ll meet some perv online then KEEP THEM OUT OF CHAT ROOMS.

The whole issue of sex on the internet is hypocrisy. Sex built the internet, just like it did for VCRs and DVDs. Just like it did many small towns in the old west - the nowhere town would prosper because there were bars and bordellos there, but once the town grew to a self-sustaining level the people would get all uppity and run the hookers out of town.

I wonder how children ever survived, how did their little minds not get warped forever, back in the day when everyone lived in one room of the hut? Between the farm animals rutting, their parents cranking out another baby, and witnessing the natural sexual impulses of young adults those poor children must have been traumatized. Snort!

So let’s change the subject and go back to ranting about how evil islamic sharia is, and never ever see that our own culture is only a step or two away. You can’t have it both ways people. Live free or in chains.

  7. Our culture is one or two steps away?  Time to lay off the kool-aid hoss.

Oh our system COULD end up destroyed in that fashion but we got a LOOOONG way to go.
