Charlton Heston, R.I.P.

Tis a sad day this, but it only marks the end of a well lived life.

  1. RIP Chuck. You made some outstanding films. El Cid, Gordon of Khartoum, The Ten Commandments...need I go on? As you say Drew a life well lived but he will be missed.

  2. Yes I will miss him… but I can’t find it in myself to be sad, anymore than I can be sad walking a well defined trail another blazed and carved, and being sad that he has moved beyond my horizon, still blazing trails in places I have yet to go.

I feel privileged to have lived my life in the place and time he was a public figure. While I doubtless would have been unaware what I was missing, nonetheless it would have been a smaller, colder, darker world without him.

It has been probably 40 years or more since he played Moses. At last, it is his time to cross over to the promised land.

Thank you sir, for taking the time to brighten our lives before it was time to go.

  3. To paraphrase my favorite President -"We will never forget him, nor the last time we saw him—as he prepared for his journey, and waved good-bye, and “slipped the surly bonds of earth” to “touch the face of God.”

  4. And of course, the far left (Daily Kos, HuffPo, et al) is celebrating his death. They have to remind us that they are the ones who care about people.
