4. Actually, this is not unlike the scene from Niven & Pournelle’s ”Footfall” where the POTUS was overruled by his Joint Chiefs when Michael (the Orion spacecraft launched from Bellingham, WA, nuking the town) was attacking...and WINNING...against the Thuktun Flishithy.

5. TimO, we don’t know what Hillary was seeing when that picture was taken. There had to be at least a couple of moments during that raid when she’d have reason to be worried, like when the chopper got crunched. So I’ll cut her some slack for that. OTOH, I wouldn’t bet a cent against the likelihood of that whole Situation Room event being on video somewhere, and we all know the feed from Hey Abbot!abad is on tape. Synch the two up and then we’ll know if you’re on the money or not, because I can certainly see your point. Especially from her who claimed to have been under sniper fire in the past and exposed to other harsh realities of combat situations. Even if she later recanted.

   But it’s Obama’s position, location, posture, body language, lack of a chair, lack of a computer, and facial expression that get to me. All of that really lends credence to this story, which should by rights be utterly impossible. Panetta’s private army operating under SoS Clinton and VP feather brain? That’s even more frightening than Dick Cheney’s Assassination Squads (actually it’s the same boots on the ground doing the actual job); at least under Cheney W would have known what was going on ahead of time. Heck, even Carter knew about his bungled mission in the desert before it went bad. Obama looks like he’s had a practical joke played on him, and all he can think about is that he’ll be taking the blame WHEN it goes wrong.
