Comrades,
And this surprises anyone because?????????
I used to buy the enquirer to line the litter box with, but then I realized that that would be redundant.....
I used to get a little annoyed about all the comments and jokes about West Virginians and such. Then I realized those folks down there were writing their own material. No one could make up that stuff. sigh
Respects,
Gwedd
If the man’s actual intent was to “call attention to the very serious issue of mine safety,” he should have been glad to do it for free.
Sounds like something needed paying for. A new dish system, maybe? I grew up in Appalachia, and I have not lost touch since leaving. You may find many a shanty in Appalachia with no telephone. There are still some with outhouses, for that matter. The clothes may be ragged and the kids may be hungry. But you will find damned few shanties that do not have a dish parked outside and a monstrous big color TV parked inside.
Of course, one might make that observation about urban shanty dwellers as well, except that in urbania, they have the option of cable access.
Perhaps, they just mis-spelled the word “Screws"… in the headline
I think I would have been mad too, if a relative had seeked to prosper of something like this. What the heck good are all these medical privacy laws that are driving all of us nuts, if someone can take a picture of you (while you are comatose) and sell said picture to a publisher. Though Skipper is right, if the river ran calm between brother in law and wife, this wouldn’t be a an issue.
Not to mention that the fishwrap got the picture for cheap. Don’t they usually pay thousands for such a pic?
