  1. That’s Ok. I heard that when they got the order they were all quite happy; making #1 in the opposite direction allows a beeline vector for #2.

  2. Ooooookay!  Just for that, I’m going to determine the direction of Mecca from San Antonio and start pissing in that direction.  My back yard should provide sufficient firing points to accomplish that.

  3. Use Google Earth; it’s a 2 minute task. I did it several years ago and found that my bathroom was in near perfect alignment. When I did a renovation, I made sure to turn the toilet just a little bit to ensure the best possible vector.

  5. Playing devil’s advocate here, but ... if modifying my behavior while in a war zone lessens the risk to me or my comrades, and if such modifications aren’t unduly burdensome, then it makes sense to do so. For example, walking behind instead of in front of some bozo kneeling with his forehead on the ground doesn’t mean I submit to him, or that I am converting to his religion. It just means I don’t want to get shot or blown up. When I was in I hated wearing a flak jacket and steel pot (shows you how long ago that was) but I did so because it made me safer.

And yes, I’m aware that there is a huge double standard in asking our troops to adapt to them, while not expecting the same consideration in return. But IMO if following those guidelines reduces the risk, then I see no harm in it.

I agree with the spirit of the piss-on Mecca comments. I think islam is the biggest threat to the free world today. Once you’re out of the ‘stan feel free to fire away in whatever direction you choose.

And even if you’re over there, you can always face east when no one’s looking.
