  5. You put it so well.  It’s way I get tears in my eyes whenever I see or hear some tremendous example of true art.  It’s the sense of awe I feel when I read about inventions and scientific discoveries.  We as people have such capacity for greatness, even in the simple acts of kindness such as smiling and greeting a stranger at the store.  We MUSN’T lose sight of that in the barrage of horros that the “news” brings us.

  6. I agree with all - and that is what is missing in our ‘culture’ these days - too many want to scam the system, play legal lotto and then sit back the ‘rest’ of their lives (even tho 95% of those who do that blow thru the money in 5 years or less) or simply feel that their ‘take’ on life must be held in the highest.

Life is not fair, we all die in the end. How was it phrased in Braveheart - every man dies, but not every man lives.

The ever pessimistic, bad America left drains and sucks out the emotions of hope and faith in way too many people in this country - which is leading to the anger, resentment, and hostility - which raises the violence, crime and just plain giving up. It is what the left wants - but it is ripping at the fabric of America’s foundation. Good to see that Britain is struggling to get up off her knees and maybe that combined with the insanity of late will get America to stand up and fight back and stop this nonsense before it is too late.

  7. Since I live in Germany and tend to zap through the SatTV-channels, I had heard of him at the end of the casting show and followed up till the finals, wonderful performances. I liked the story so much, that I had to look him up. The only thing that bothers me is that he is listed as a “Liberal Democrat” in Wikipedia. Well, nobody is perfect, look at me, I married a Liberal.

  8. I used to work for a big Methodist Church across from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. I heard some very fine opera there. This fellow is astounding for an amateur and I hope he can get some professional training to push his love higher and higher.

  9. Paul Potts got some training in Italy, he almost went broke. Winning the BGT show saved him financially.  I’m kind of surprised not many people know him in the U.S. You can buy his CDs in Amazon now. What’s amazing is that he didn’t quit, he had a bad accident and had a lot of money problems and setbacks. He kept his day-job and followed his dream. Definitely someone to look up to.

  11. I had to go back and watch that three more times...its just amazing, and it gives me goosebumps every time....simply amazing.

Goes to show you that you never know the hidden talents people have.

  12. VERY little gets to me on a physically emotional level, but this man most certainly does.  He has an amazing talent, and I hope he can get some professional training to perfect it.

(as an aside: contrast this amazing voice with that trashy ragged-edged caterwauling played toward the of the clip).
