BUYING AN AIR GUN IN DEFENLESS BRITAIN.

  1. What an utter crock of shit. The nanny-state pussified governments of the world are going to continue to regulate anything mildly risky to the point where living will just be a boring existence, or at least so they think. Risk takers (ie, people actually wanting to LIVE their lives) will learn to do so quietly and out of the sight of others.

I forget who it was that said that it is not enough to fight the paperwork and regulations, you must kill those who are making it. Whoever it was that said that was absolutely right.

Gah… There went my blood pressure up a few points.

  3. The Brocock pistols were quite nifty. They took a high pressure brass cartridge which you pumped up with air. The trouble was the villains quickly realised you could adapt them to fire real ammo. The government in Britain (socialists) hate anything to do with guns. You only have to see the way they react one someone is injured by an air rifle. Oh and I keep banging on about it, but there is something deeply sinister in my view about the way they sealed the records for 100years on the Thomas Hamilton case. The incident that led to the ban on handgun ownership. Someone knows a lot more than they are letting on.

  4. ..and that would be “...Defen(se)less Britain.” in the title.

  5. Dear UK residents: You have our deepest condolences, but over
200 years ago we here in the USofA solved that same problem....

  6. Dear UK residents:

Once upon a time you were an armed nation. Every freeman amongst you was required to own and practice daily with the longbow. My, how times have changed.

A few decades ago you got caught in a tight corner in some little place called Dunkirk. While you got your men home by heroic public effort, you left their guns behind. Because you were already a mostly disarmed nation even then, and because you were faced with what looked like imminent invasion and had almost no guns to defend yourselves with, we sent you ours. From our closets, from our attics, from our cellars; the Bundles for Britain became Bullets (with guns) for Britain. Tens of thousands of weapons, given from our people to yours.

british_ad.gif

After that whole mess was over in 1945, your government collected all of those nice American weapons. And destroyed them. And you all let this happen. We haven’t forgotten.

A few years ago, a decade perhaps, some berk went and shot up a few children in one of your schools. So you disarmed the whole damn country. And now crime is running wild, and your young people are killing each other with knives and clubs instead. And you let the criminals run free while arresting those who defend themselves.

Here in the “wild wild west” we provincial “cowboys” could buy firearms - real rifles and shotguns and pistols - through the mail until 1968. No ID, just send a check. Or even COD. That was then.

This is now: In nearly all the states, anyone 18 or over can walk into a gun store in their state and buy a rifle or a shotgun any time they want. You fill out a little bit of paper, pay your money, and take your gun. You can buy as much ammunition as you want too, even if it isn’t for the gun you are purchasing. No paperwork at all; ammo is just stuff, no different than a loaf of bread.

We can still buy black powder firearms through the mail. Real live guns, powerful enough to kill deer out to 200 yards and beyond. For sale in catalogs. No ID necessary, just use your credit card. This includes black powder pistols. “six shooters” powerful enough to kill, yet small enough to fit in your pocket. We can also order the black powder itself, and the bullets, and the percussion caps. No forms, no licenses, no paperwork.

This is now: in nearly all the states, anyone 18 or over without a criminal record can fill out a few forms, pay a small fee, perhaps spend a few hours taking an instruction course, then they are legally allowed to carry a pistol in their pocket. Pretty much anywhere; many states have cooperative agreements with many other states wherein they recognize each other’s CCW permits. So I can be licensed in Arizona, but legally able to carry my pistol in dozens of other states.

So BB guns? Pellet rifles? Phah! Who gives a shit? Those are toys for children. Here’s a link to just one store. We have thousands of places like this one.

But to be fair, most states probably want you to be 18 to buy one these days. It wasn’t like that even 25 years ago.

We have no age restrictions or sales restrictions on gigantic knives, swords, spears, maces, clubs, or anything like that. Not that I know of. You can buy them mail order. You want pepper spray or a stun gun? Most states allow them to be sold them mail order too.

We do get prissy over booze and sex though. But guns? Have all you want. We’ll make more.

The only part really “twitchy” is our reaction over here to your actions over there. You baffle us, big time.

  7. Ok, sorry about that rant. Not sorry for it, just that I had to let it loose.

Peiper, go get your gun permit. Then buy the most powerful airgun you can find. See if you can get the PCP style of airgun, the “precharged” kind. This one feeds from a bicycle pump or air compressor, and is nearly as powerful as an actual rifle at short ranges.

If you aren’t limited to caliber, some of these can be had in .177, .22, .25. and .355. Bigger is better. Look into the Career III 707 or Career Model 201 S by ShinSung, a Korean company that makes airguns you can hunt with. Real hunting. These things are as powerful as real rifles, and just as costly.

If you can’t get an air cannon like this kind, get a .22 from RWS or one of those quality British companies. A .22 pellet at 850fps or faster will knock Mr. Bun-bun arse over teakettle from across the garden and save your veg! You have to practice head shots though; the little pellets probably can’t penetrate far enough for a chest shot. Against foxes or at ranges above 50 yards you want a real rifle.

  8. Drew, Pre-charged air rifles are readily available but they still have the same restrictions as air rifles. If the muzzle energy exceeds 12ft lbs they are classed as a firearm. They then require a firearms license. Not impossible to obtain but not simple either. You would need a farmer to sign that you had permission to shoot or be a member of a gun club. Handguns actually can still be obtained by firearm certificate holders, but only black powder. However because the morons who framed the handgun ban were Labour they didn’t have a clue about guns so they classified a handgun as having a barrel under 12” or something like that. I used to shoot at a rifle club and a few chaps had “rifles” which were basically .44” magnums with “buntline special” barrels and a detachable “stock” the police hated it but could do nothing as the law said they were “rifles”

The other altenative in the UK is to get a shotgun. The law is framed in such a way that the police cannot deny anyone a license to posses a shotgun provided they are not ex cons or mad basically. One thing that is easy to get in the UK which is not so easy in the US is a moderator or as some call them a “silencer” you can buy .410” shotguns or even 12 bore shotguns with full length moderators. With subsonic cartridges they are remarkably quite but also very effective. The only legal prerequisite is a steel cabinet fixed to a solid wall.

  9. Well it won’t help with the rabbits, but for home defense, go to a marine supply store and buy a flare pistol.
It’s not a firearm, it’s safety equipment. But ask yourself: If you were *going* to get shot, which would be worse? Taking a 9mm to the chest, or a magnesium flare?
