Miers seems like a decent choice-still I was hoping for a Janice Rogers Brown or Priscilla Owens.
TOTALLY off topic: Vilmar says it’s okay that dogs were shot in N’Awlins and is advocating the culling of Great Whites-extremely endangered-because a few dumb #$%&^ swimmers got bit.
Since I feel worse than hell today could some of y’all go over there and set him straight for me?!
No one messes with my sharks!
I’m FURIOUS at Bush for ducking a fight. If Democrats suggested Miers, then it’s a compromise with them, and I’m at the “no quarter” stage on this war on Leftism. When will Bush learn that trying to make nice with the Left is like trying to make nice with a cornered rattlesnake? Both will bite you for sure.
The Left needs to be slapped in the face and beaten and stomped at every opportunity until they and all their followers acknowledge that they lost, dammit. After letting the Left try their theory for seventy years here and eighty-five years worldwide at a terrible cost, we need to stop their amoral, lying socialism from further insinuating its rot into our culture.
Miers may turn out to be a fine Justice, or maybe not, but we cannot take a chance on that. Bush let slip an opportunity to bitch slap the Left again, letting them know they are losers and allowing the public to see which party really is mean spirited in the public forum of confirmation.
The Supreme Court is the guardian of who we are as a nation, and needs to be populated by people who believe what the Founders said, who see the Constitution as the Bedrock, not a pile of sand to be moved around to suit. Bush missed an opportunity to safeguard our Republic by both openly delivering a blow to the Left and appointing a rock solid known Constitutionalist.
[.....and George’s only function as a Gopisser president, is to fuck with the Dummycrats??????]
No OCM, his primary function is to safeguard our Republic from enemies without and within. There is a way to change the Founder’s words, and it’s not from the bench, not from the EU, but from the People through Amendment.
First the New Deal and then the Great Society spawned a cancerous sense of entitlement in some groups of American society, grew enormous bureaucracies unanswerable to the electorate and Balkanized our country into entitled and protected groups. The Dems have been the prime movers of that viewpoint, and it has failed and will wreck our country in spite of the Dems penchant for throwing more money at it and creating more big government to “solve” the problems. Their way has failed, but they will not admit it and seek new ideas, but instead lie, use calumny, use liberal judges and the ACLU, restrict actual liberal thought and words to prosecute their Socialist agenda. The buck stops at the Supreme Court, and that body must act on what the Constitution says, not on penumbras emanating from nuances of what the Justice feels is right or sympathetic to the downtrodden in his own mind. Legislation is the job of Congress, NOT SCOTUS, and the Dems need to be reminded of that at every opportunity until they and the people get the message. It’s part of the bully pulpit.
Barb: You may feel free to “straighten” Vilmar out. I have better things to do. Keep it on topic.
Sorry.
*looks ashamed*
And I AM dissapointed with Bush on this.
HARRY REID recommended Miers-not exactly a rousing endorsement.
Maybe Ms. Miers is just a sacrificial goat, she’ll get rejected for “obscurity” then GWB can appoint a much more suitable candidate, like Janice Rogers Brown. Then sit back and watch the libocrat
moonbats as they expose themselves
as the bigots and the party of hate that they truly have become.
I wanted Janice Rogers-Brown, dammit. I wanted the world to see what a bunch of racists the Dems are. But NOOO, we have to play it safe and “compromise”.
