  1. Two things - she (Little Miss Dizzy) may have been left behind - as mom instinctively knew she was not long for the world. That concept of provide the resources to the most likely to survive, survival of the fittest bs. And Alley Cats (organization) - might provide the spay and/or point you to a low cost spay/neuter vet/program in your area. It will prolong the mother cat’s life (and give her a huge break) - but ends the overpopulation problem. My mom use to work with them - then they just set the truly feral (cat people can tell the difference 90% of the time between a pet who got loose and a truly feral cat) back out in their territory after recovery.

    To me it sounds as if your kitty is indeed a sick little kitty. Sad - but her last days will at least be pleasant.

    The one stray that po’d me - was a young dog who wandered up to our place (and damn, the kids saw her) - off to the vet and low and behold she had distemper. Lots of meds, money and worry later, she blithely trotted off a couple days after all her treatment was over. Sometimes the animals make us shake our heads and us ask - Why did we bother!
