2. You beat me to it riabutis - a little ‘googling’ (not that I’m even allowed to use google in this house) - it’s just such a standard phrase right now - and ‘polar vortex’ came into being in 2001 - hmm, just after the goracle lost his chance to be Prezy.

   It used to be called the Jet Stream - and I’m 58 and never, ever recall hearing ‘polar vortex’ before (and it’s only been since 2005ish that I stopped watching Good Today Morning AM Friends show). So looking at the few times - we check the local weather via tv - I’d had heard it, if they used it before now.
