  1. Extremely interesting… My favorite part:

The problem is particularly prevalent in Pakistani communities, where betrothing offspring to their first cousins is common practice, said Ms Sanghera.

    This explains a lot…

  2. We have the problem here as well. There was a raid in Arkansas last week, and the Mormon group in Texas.
FWIW, our children are becoming active by their choice at a younger age. I’m not in favor of pushing girls into marriage before they are ready for it, but the practice advocated in the Bible was arranged marriage. That way the girl was wed to a man who could support her vs becoming a benificiary of the state who has children but neither spouse or job.
I would just as soon girls wait, but if the choice is getting knocked up by a teenager with no job, no education, and no menas of support vs an older man who is responsible, educated employed and with somethig to show, I’ll opt for the older guy.
Presently, if a ninteen year old has sex with your twelve year old, he goes to jail, but if your twelve year old screws another twelve year old, all you get is a baby. I think that there should be penalties for the kids who engage in sex as well, both male and female.
In most case, twelve year olds sleeping with older men are not totally clueless rape victims. I know several cases where the girls do it for monitary benefit. Not prostitutes, but the older guys have money and can buy them stuff.
Every case is diffrent though, and a case by case approach is needed. Still, the laws need to end age discrimination on sex based offences. Parents should have the option to pursue a complaint regardless of age or sex if one or both parties are under age eighteen.
