Boy George loses court case over right to be on TV, and a justice system minus the justice.

  1. Personally I could care less if the scumbag appears on shite like Big Brother. Programs like that highlight just how decadent we have become in the UK. That people would actually waste their lives watching oxygen thieves beggars belief. Maybe they were hoping O’Dowd could get another rent boy in for some “entertainment”.

  2. "Zero confidence”. In fairness, I can’t blame the cops for having zero confidence in the public, either. Ideally you shouldn’t be calling the cops for protection, but for backup. You should be able to trust them to be your wingman, and they should be able to trust you to be someone they don’t mind being the wingman of.

Of course, the word “Ideally” contains the assumption that it ain’t a-gonna work out that way in practice. Sure. Nonetheless, the entire concept of representative government implies that the cops, and any government service, should be a tool available for the use of the citizen, not the other way around.

Folks, we are a long way from home.

  3. Missed ya Grumps ... Glad ur back.

Lyndon ... I once saw the American version which I understand was pretty tame compared to Brit standards. Couldn’t watch the entire thing and couldn’t understand its appeal. On the other hand, I guess ppl just enjoy seeing other ppl suffer.
It started with the Dutch, I have read.

  4. Yes, it’s true, it’s my fault. I sent him so many links in an email about St. Swithun’s that he forgot the kettle was on the hob.

So, let me get this straight. Georgy boy was invited (hired) to be on this TV show, but the government won’t let him because he’d earn lots of money from it? Unless the standard probationary restrictions - the “licence conditions” - include “you can’t go out and get a job doing what you do” then this decision is total crap. Boy George is a celebrity, a person who is paid vast sums of money to appear at events and be controversial. That’s his job. And if the restrictions placed on him are unique, then he has a case there too.

Bad decision by the courts. Reeks of homophobia. It may have been better to show that one of the restrictions is “stay at home or within X miles thereof”. But they didn’t. They came up with the ‘would pose “a high level of risk” to the service’s reputation. ‘ canard. Which translates as ... “putting Boy George on TV with his ankle bracelet on would make us look foolish. After all, we let him out of jail early, so having him on the show would remind people that we let him out of jail early.”

Sounds like wookie reasoning to me.

  5. One month after his EARLY release from jail, he caught up with her returning home from work, and stabbed her 13 times and killed her.

This reminds of a stellar story from Next Time She’ll Be Dead - Woman stabbed to death in a Woman’s Safe House shelter - Detective standing over the body was heard to utter - ‘She should have just left him.’

There is no cure for stupid. And it’s going to kill us all.

  6. Yes but Drew ... Look what he did to earn that ankle bracelet. I don’t think it’s any kind of phobia at all.  Yes, he’s a celeb. But while he’s wearing that thing we have to conclude it’s part of being punished for keeping someone a tied up prisoner.  You can’t then allow him the extra slack to appear on a TV show while at the same time he’s on some kind of restriction.  That’s only rewarding bad behavior. And I’d feel that way no matter what his sexual choices were. It’s not about that at all.

  7. The really great news is it is the last series of big bother. It is cynical cheap crap TV appeals to the lower parts of human nature. Stupid thin g is the asshole who cannot sing was let out of a cell early, assumidly he has a anklet because he is not really free? then he wants to be locked away under 24 hour survellance? dumb or what???

  9. Seems to me that Boy George and George Michael should keep each other prisoner. They’re perfect for each other, don’t you agree?
