First Christopher - the Ed System has dumbed down the reading/comprehension program - which is one reason kids find reading and education in general - boring. Second - many groups that aren’t Asian immigrants - find Education in general a waste of time and only for - nerds, brainiacs, losers and you know, the smart (white) kids. And lastly, the Public Library doesn’t pay them to go there - entitlement crowd only wants to use public programs that pay them.
Bored - these kids are more ‘connected’ than I ever was - but instead of ‘inventing’ or improving games involving horses or pick- ball games or swimming or - even sitting outside reading a good book - these kids today - believe that life must be a 30 to 60 minute thrill ride or it’s useless and boring.
And for people who probably don’t even know who their father is nor heard I Love You (until it’s over their casket - then it comes out very freely from the entire family, usually on tv) - life is cheap and meaningless. They are descending lower than animals - if they kill ‘just for something to do’. Did you read the (amoral, base, cold-hearted, vile) piece by some lib - extolling his/her Mom for aborting his/her sibling? And we wonder why these kids kill for no reason.
We shoot rabid dogs - when is society going to step up and start executing these sub-human scum - but then that might require those in power/institutions to have to admit their part in the creation of this pathetic and dangerous mess.
And maybe, just maybe the root - intentional steps to make lazy, stupid and violent people - to cause this type of chaos and anarchy - is just what they want - so that they can step in and ‘take control’.
Sad what is happening and more people aren’t up in arms about the complete breakdown of the systems that are the cause of this mess. It’s one of the reasons I stopped watching A & E’s The First 48 - to listen again and again - to cops saying - I grew up here and it used to be a nice place but now is overrun with gangs and drugs. Come on - you don’t get to be a Detective in a week - they WERE the beat cops - that let their own neighbors go to crap.
And we wonder why DC thinks that we are stupid. Because we sit around doing nothing, saying nothing and just bitching to our friends.

Can’t fault anything you say here wardmama. I knew about the reading… that’s why I ended up doing some serious tutoring with my step-son. What to do about it? Wrest control from the NEA/Dep.Ed. Do you know there was no Federal Dept. Ed. until the year AFTER I graduated high school? Do you know that education is NOT one of the enumerated powers of Congress under Article 1, Section 8?

Chris, I think she and I have talked about it before. Many years ago she had the need to publish a rather long essay here in several parts as a catharsis, and it was very well received. Any time she wants, she can drive the car. But I won’t put the slightest bit of pressure on her to do that, as her life demands so much of her time for other things.
Talk to my hubby - if I ‘drive’ the computer car - it won’t be pretty - at all. Ever.
I love to write - have all my life - the phone and I don’t have a good relationship at all - as they despise my belief that a phone has no constitutional right to be answered. So I write, most of my family hates that I write but some are willing to simply call after I write. I have one friend as cheap as I am - she and I send about a half dozen missives back and forth during the year. But most people are phone users now and don’t do writing.
I am in Cincinnati - trapped here by no job and no income. I’ve tried the get-together with people from 9/12 and Tea Party - I keep remembering why I left back in 1975 - even though born and raised here - I feel like an outsider.
Defense is the one thing specifically spelled out - and most of this destructive ‘entitlement’ over-reach has been ‘justified’ under the general welfare clause. Also notice how Defense was twisted into discretionary spending (voted upon yearly) and all the entitlements were twisted into mandatory spending and Social Security - which is a ‘tax’ (that I guess is not a tax too) - which the employee and the employer PAY - got twisted into an ‘entitlement’.
These people have to be rotting in hell - for their lies, their deception and their actions that are leading to the destruction of America.
But I take heart in the fact that we are seeing (thanks to Talk Radio and the Internet) just how much media distorts, lies and protects these crapweasels in DC that there is still hope that America will survive.
I suggest we all push for a NONE OF THE ABOVE WRITE-IN for the MIDTERMS - let ‘em know that We The People don’t give a rat’s a** about EITHER PARTY.
