  1. I bet he wouldn’t talk so foolishly if he had no Secret Service protection.  If I had MG totin’ , combat trained bodyguards covering my ass for the rest of my life, I’d could say anything that stoopidly dropped out of my mouth too.

  2. Bet he is not only trying to garner another fake Peace prize and to ‘embarrass’ the sitting President but maybe just maybe trying to get a rewrite of the Iranian history of the hostage situation to kind of clean up his World image.

I just wish that he’d shut up and go back to building habitats. Bout all he’s worth, guess though at his age there isn’t much he can do anymore.

Shame on whoever in the gov approved all this garbage. They are part and parcel of this attempt to undermine the war, the sanctions (and thereby America’s stance on the Iran situation) and of course the President of the United States of America.

Bet it’s a dem appointee who ok’d this farce.

  3. Hi Everyone.

My first post.  Love the site.  Been dropping by for a while.  This thread (and a bottle of scotch) really pissed me off. Sorry about the rant but here I go.

I’ve been silent for a long time. My silence was always been balanced by my innate belief that the American people truly saw beyond the spin and political self-serving nature of politicians and media of latter days and today.  I still believe that today.  The American public has little to learn from me.  But in today’s world of revised history and political spin, I just wanted to get a few thing of my chest.

My chosen field of study, employment and thirst for knowledge for the past 21 years has been that of the military dynamic of foreign policy.  No, I’m not of those double PhD’s who went to work for another Government Agency at the age of nineteen.  When I graduated from college, I joined the US Army and actually planned and executed military strategy.

I was a member of 3rd Ranger Battalion in Somalia when the Secretary of Defense and senior military members sidelined the most powerful military in the world.  “They” left ground pounders to the whim of Pakistani UN members to be abandoned for the fear of mission creep.

I was a member of 3rd Special Forces Group entering Haiti after of a Forced Entry Option was taken of the table for a comprised solution where ROE hampered actual progress for the duration of the mission.

I spent 28 months in the country of Chad after it was opened to American soldiers.  Most of my time was spent dealing with military people and civilians from Africa and the Middle East.  I loved my job.  Getting up ever morning, I knew the day was going to be good because I loved what I did for my country.

After leaving the military, I was given a unique opportunity to become a civilian planning and implementing the military dynamic of US foreign policy.  As one of the very limited group of people that are responsible for the planning of the Afghanistan and Iraq, I applied every ounce of operational and tactical knowledge to design war plans that meet the strategic objectives called for in those war plans.

I have only a few but very harsh comments to several individuals and groups.

Editor’s Note:  Please remove small children from the vicinity of the viewing screen.  As better stated in the movie Tombstone “Cover your ears Darling’ because here it comes:

Former President Carter.  Your complete failure as an elected representative of the people of the United States of America negates anything done in your life.  Your opinion means absolutely nothing.  You sold your soul for a Nobel Prize.  Enjoy it because your opinion on world affairs after your dismal Presidency falls upon death ears.

GEN® Wesley Clark.  Your tactical and operational bumbling almost got me shot at an airport by Russian soldiers.  You never had a clue about the strategic goals.  Your concerns of UN protocol and limited peace allowed you to claim some minor victory.  The factions are still killing each other.  You had no intention of solving the problem.  You chose the easy wrong over the hard right.  Your opinion on Strategic Defense Strategy Against Non-state Threats is laughable.  Just my lowly opinion.  Kissing the hind side of possible future president may get you a cabinet post.  Understand this; Even if some day you stand on a podium in a position of power, the people who worked for you and know your motives will still never respect or trust you.

MAJ. Bob on the FOX New Network.  Bob, you were a lousy Team Leader but most still respected you.  After 2001, that is not the case.  Your initial reporting on Afghanistan may have made your career as a “Military Expert” but your discussion of SF TTP’s compromised valuable information.  I hope you sleep well with the knowledge that your career was made on the future lives of ODA guys.

To all “Media Experts on Military Affairs” (This includes former Ambassadors, Generals, Law Enforcement personnel and Academics).  I sat through the planning chaos that was Afghanistan and the tedium the was Iraq.  There is not a single person, except General(s) Franks and Longrifle, on TV today that was there.  You do not know what the plan was.  Your experience does not allow you to extrapolate what the plan was.  You have no idea how many times every iteration of possible outcomes and mitigation effects were reviewed.  The two main planners (both O-6s) were the most dedicated and intelligent men in the military today.  The plan was not wrong.  It worked in less than a month.  You have forgotten the major fact of war - the enemy gets a voted.  Shut up.  You are not now nor ever were capable of divining what the strategic, operational and tactical plans could have been.  You lie to the American people every time you stated your conjectured opinion.

To the “Intellectual Elite”.  Your not.  Your PhD in Adult Education, your years of studies or experience in Health Care Policy or Global Seal Migrations DO NOT make you an expert on military affairs.  Despite my PhD in International Studies, I would not come to your classroom and tell you why your theories on polar bear humping were wrong.  Just because you feel some intellectual or morale superiority does not mean your right.  Shut up.  When I need to answer to a question on the Second Law of Thermodynamics or Brownian motion, I will come ask.

To the American people.  Military people and planners spend their entire lives perfecting the art of warfare.  Warfare is an art.  It is not a cold scientific calculation or flowchart that can be reproduced and studied over time.  The military of the United States of American today is the best the world has ever seen.  We could take Syria, Iran and North Korea at the same time and still have enough personnel to provide disaster relief.  It may get messy but the overall goal is the protection of US citizen and the homeland.  The US government acts on your best interest.

War is hard.  People die.  Ours and theirs.  Never forget that war only comes about because of the absence or recognition of law and power.  That includes this current war.  When nation states or terrorist refuse to recognize the rights of others, nothing you can do will stop it.  There is no negotiation. There is only surrender.  War is made to preserve your way of life.  Americans may not like the execution of it but the current war is to preserve your freedoms.  You may not like the fact that people die.  You have never met them.  You do not know them.  But it not you or someone you know. WMDs will not go off in your local mall if the terrorist and the nation states that support them are destroyed before they try.

Thanks for time.  I sell no political theory.  I propose no grand theory for world peace or the salvation of mankind.

To those American who read this.  Have faith. Honor the men and women who sacrifice for you and for Gods sake have a voice.  Get out and Vote.  I don’t care what person or party you vote for.  Make a choice and make your government your own.

To those people who from other lands. America is the best friend or the worst enemy.  Chose on which side you fall.

  4. Great post BDDM.

  5. That must have been a helluva good bottle of scotch as that post was one of the best I’ve read in a long while.

Freedom’s enemies are at our doorstep and inside our home. They threaten our very way of life.

As BDDM points out, they come in the form of ex-presidents, military leaders and the intellectual elite but I would also include government officials and military leadership who waste billions of dollars on pet projects because they are more focused on their careers or lining their pockets. Do they not recognize the danger around them or are they complicit in the destruction of America.

We have Americans dying on the battlefield and their sacrifice is being disrespected.

  6. That is indeed a helluva comment, BDDM. I would like to post it out front if you don’t mind. I would like to see wider exposure of your insight. Let me know if you’d rather not, otherwise I will post it on top for all visitors to read. Again, thanks!

  7. Great post - it takes someone who has been in the military and in some of the more ‘interesting’ positions/assignments to realize how the military actually works. It is a disgrace at how a portion of America has turned on the military, war and President, especially since this war is of such a serious nature.

I agree Skipper - this deserves to be seen by all.

  8. Skipper, that was a damn good bottle of Scotch.  I leave it to your judgement.

Based upon what I have read here in the past year or two, I leave it to you.  I would leave out the MAJ Bob comment if posted in a more public forum.  To much of a personal shot.  Bob is still a decent guy.

For the record, I’m not perfect either.  I try to stay away from personal shots whenever possible.  It was something I will address to him personally not on a blog.

Hangover has cleared and I fully recommmend the McClellan 10 year old Islay Scotch.
