  1. The National Hurricane Center has a map on the location of hurricane strikes in the last 50 years.  The entire Florida coast has been hit with the exception of Tampa Bay.  Let’s get this information out because then the value of our Tambay Bay homes will increase more rapidly.

The last time we were hit was 1906 and Tampa only gets hit about every hundred years so I’m feeling pretty comfortable. cool smile  island

  3. I saw a meteorologist talking about the patterns of hurricanes.  He said this current pattern we’re in could last another forty years.  UGH.

    Z,

I sure hope Tampa Bay is spared again this season.  I wonder what it is that keeps the hurricanes out of there.

  4. Hurricane season lasts through September.....My sister & I will be spending some time on Block Island in September, off the coast of Rhode Island, “come hell or high water” as we say........if we have a hurricane then we will just hunker down and live through it as we did all of our lives growing up on the coast of R.I........I must say I would rather live through a hurricane than a tornado, which can happen living here in St. Louis..............

  5. Phoenix:  I call the east coast of Florida the Hurricane Coast.  It is easy to understand why they get hit.  To hit Tampa a hurricane must take the path that Charley did last year.  Charlie went across Cuba and headed north into the Gulf.  Charlie was predicted to hit Tampa but turned east an hour early when it was raised to a level 4.  Charlie hit to the south of Tampa.

Usually this hook that a hurricane can do lands them farther north of Tampa and into the panhandle.

I have this arguement down pretty good because I was using it against my wife because I saw no need to spend thousands of dollars on hurricane crap for the house.  It didn’t work, our hurricane “equipment” is scheduled to be installed in Sept.

These hurricane salespeople are making a killing.  snake

  6. It took 3 weeks to get a hurricane salesman to our house.  Then he told my wife if she bought today it would take until Sept. for installation.  She said, “I’ll take it.”

Then I arrived and my wife told me, “You are too late I have already purchased without you.” I complained that he has only been here for 5 minutes but I knew that was a losing arguement so I just left.  The salesman said, “Is he mad?” My wife told him, “Don’t worry about him.”

Later I asked her if she realized that he probably would have deminished the price if you would have asked him.  She said, “Oh, I didn’t think of that.” She did say that the salesman said, “It’s a very good year for sales.”

Moble home insurance is going up 30% this year as reported by the St. Pete’s Times.  I can’t tell you about homeowners but ours didn’t go up at all.

  7. Z,

You’re too nice to your wife.  But that’s okay.  I hope your tete a tete does not prove her insistence for equipment true.

I have never understood why Florida, with all the hurricanes, is the mobile home center of the universe.  Just escapes me..
