  1. I think its an addiction Peiper. You get high on the power and the rush, but after awhile you need to go to rehab.

  2. I understand Mr. C. I went through the same thing in ‘03-’04 with my own blog. Got tips and advice from John Hawkins at RightWingNews and one Allan Kelly at BMEWS. At the time I started my blog it was fun. (the fact that I was laid up at home with a broken ankle was also a factor.) But even after I returned to work I’d do two or three posts before work, then a couple after work. Was building up a following.

But I ran out of steam. The stuff I was reading would just make me angry. I’d post while angry, then come home from work and delete it. Can’t make thoughtful commentary while angry. For awhile I just linked to interesting stuff. But that’s not blogging. I quit even doing that.

Peiper is right, it is a labor of love, at least if you want to do it right.

Hope somebody steps up. I don’t want to see BMEWS vanish. But it won’t be me, at least not at this time. I know I’m too unreliable.  downer

  3. Back when i found this place Allen and Vilmar were posting 20+ items a day. it felt like i had found gold on the ‘net!! such fun..........then THE split.  Allen forged on alone w/great style and wit...... i always had a soft part of my heart for sailors [bless their pointy little heads!] he was a first class mind with caustic wit............
i understand Mr. C’s sitrep.........but, it probably Was something that Drew said??!!
maybe a team effort would work again? chemistry is crucial........or another leader and a couple of 1st mates? I know something good will happen here because of so many good people that populate this place. hope that whoever takes over wants FREDin08 to happen!!!!!!  ®

  4. I don’t know what Drew might have said. But I do remember Vilmar, he was mainly a ‘linker’ not a ‘thinker’. And, like me, seemed to be angry over what he was reading. In fact, I think his angry outbursts are what caused the demise of his solo blog. Too many complaints to his blog host. Not so much the content, but ‘how’ you say it. That’s why I would delete posts I’d made in anger.

I like Drew, I’ve just learned to not be drinking Mountain Dew when reading a Drew post. Tends to come out my nose all over the keyboard. I’m tired of replacing keyboards. And, with the local CompUSA going out of business, it’s now much more difficult to replace the keyboard.

  5. And Christopher you have pointed out why I do not step up and raise my hand - I know I am opinionated but it has taken on an angry edge of late and that isn’t what is needed. I could (with the people here in my home) take on the computer stuff - I just can’t seem to tone down the anger of late - and I am very easily distracted. So I know enough not to step up, yet.

I’d love to post more stuff, you guys just get to it before I do!

I will hang in here and when my ship finally comes in - BMEWS is among the first to get some of the booty.

  6. wardmama4, just because “you guys just get to it before I do!” doesn’t mean much. Takes time to have a coherent thought about ‘it’. Go ahead and post whatever you think about ‘it’.

Believe me, I’m just ‘shooting from the hip’. I’ve taken almost no time to prepare a cogent response. Usually…

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
    –Ephesians 4:26

Yeah, and delete posts you posted in anger… Book of St. Christopher 5:12

  8. Its of concern to me to keep BMEWS alive. We need to keep conservative blogs especially as this election cycle approaches. The more voices we have the better.

  9. Hmmm.... I’d love to as well, but I suffer from the same problems already pointed out: Too angry, not reliable enough, and for that matter no money to pay the bills when they come due.
Mostly too angry. WAY too angry. I studiously avoid watching the news, and do not own a TV at all, nor have any desire to. I don’t want to hear about the news at all until someone else has already softened the blow by making fun of it.
I’ll be glad to help where I can, but I simply *can’t* sit on the hot seat. Completely aside from not having the resources, BMEWS deserves better than me.

  10. There’s our man. Grumpy Old Fart for BMEWS blogmaster! He doesn’t want it. Makes him the perfect victim candidate.

As for the finances, I think the BMEWS community will come to your aid Grumpy. I just sent Mr. C. a donation yesterday toward that March hosting contract. I’ll do it again in a month or so.

    Draft Grumpy!

  11. Thanks peiper, blame it on Chris… cussing

Allah has a special place for you… 72 virgins… there’s a reason they are still virgins… it is an easily curable disease… so why are they still virgins?
