  1. Haven’t you heard? Oracle is on a buying spree and guess what they’re gobbling up now .... Open Source database products. I wonder where this is going ....?

  2. OCM: Read the license very carefully. YOu don’t have to put a link back or even a text message saying where you got it. All the license really says is “DON’T TAKE CREDIT YOURSELF FOR MY STUFF”. You can “steal” whatever you want. You are not required to link back to me. Just don’t claim it was your work. That ain’t right. And that’s common sense.

And I am NOT going to spoil a beautiful picture with some doofus watermwark or text overwriting the picture. You are always saying art should be shared freely. I’m doing my best to make that happen so get with the program, you old curmudgeon.

    LOL

  5. A quibble, but people do quibble: Could not someone claim the “DOT COM” was ‘commerical use’?

  6. No more than a company with .NET can claim to be a network provider. It all started out with clear divisions in everyone’s minds: .COM for companys, .NET for network providers, .EDU for educational institutions, .GOV for government and .ORG for non-profit organizations but as domains got in short supply companies got .NET and network providers got .COM and schools also got .NET. Then somebody had a bright idea and decided to add more domain roots so we now have .INFO, .XX (where XX is country code, i.e. UK or US) and even .BIZ. It is already no longer a distinction at all. Sorry, there is no .PIG - at least not yet.

  7. But there IS pig.nets!

....sorry ... umm ... that appears to be ‘pignuts’.... a site devoted to KY haute cuisine.

  8. All the money you make and you’re still not commercial?

I know he’s covered this subject in detail, but I contribute, via Paypal, at the Major Pain in the Ass level, so I can get away with saying this.

P.S. Here’s a link to some good eatin’—only mildly disturbing, and a real food site.
