  1. OK, Dr. Gold at UF, don’t be so quick to knock it.

Being a former 6’4”, 300 lb. person who was in good shape, active and never even came close to failing my annual certification physical (firefighter/para-medic) tax paying citizen. I gotta say stop and think this one trough, after all you are a Reagan Republican and not a Democrat.

Then I had a motorcycle v. car acident and bam I’m in a wheelchair. Along with my other problems I got FAT (yes fat in capital letters).

This has become a constant battle for me and God knows I’ve tryed all sorts of programs with varying success. Mostly make that no success.

It wasn’t until I started treating my weight as an addictions that I got a handle on the problem.
Yes I was one of the early participants in Dr. Golds study about 10 years ago.

I’ve stopped the weight gain and made significant progress in weight loss. Better yet it’s been constant, not up and down. Yes I’m not back in fighting shape yet, but it doesn’t stop me from trying. Actuall y despite my bad luck physically in some ways I’m in better health than I’ve been because of the work done through Dr. Golds progam

Like all problems there are assholes who will try to find a way to profit unjustly from their problems. This is life, but the problem is still there and it isn’t going away. (let them have to spend a weekend with people who have successfully rehabed and got on with their life, we’ll educate their sorry ass)

Trust me had this addiction model been around when I first got hurt, it would have saved me a lot of time and money, not mention speeded up the other aspects of my rehab.

That’s supposed to be the American Way....

By the way besides Ronald Reagan the Great, the fact that every major accessability act was pushed through by a Republican President (Nixon & BushI) and the fact that Rebulicans will give you a working plan to help yourself, are what made me the first Republican in my family in more generations than we can remember and proud of it.

  2. Over-eating CAN be a disorder ,just like anorexia, bulimia, and exercise bulimia(the problem I’m trying to recover from) are. That said ,those of us who have said disorders also have choices. If I binge and then over-exercise for the next week to “pay” for it, I’ve made a choice to do that. No one is forcing me or anyone else to act upon our addictions If there are negative consequences to said choices, they need to be delt with RESPONSIBLY as well.
Eating CAN be a disorder-that’s true. The real problems begin when people use their problems as a crutch and would rather play helpless victim rather take control of their recovery. In that case, they deserve scorn. Recovery is a choice!

  3. "Women kill rape suspect in court.”
Sounds like we should appoint a committee to study this. Comprehensively.
Take one repist, put him in a room with ten armed victims and check back in the morning. Repeat.

  4. The assbite would have been better off going to the produce department to get his “ties"--this is my endless
    supply if needed.

The rapist?  Hang them all by their balls and cut them down later with a sharp scalpel!!

  5. I have always believed that relatives of rape victims should be given 5 minutes alone with a rapist.  If he survives, then he is free to go.  But, you have to make sure he is guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt first.
