  1. Dr. Jerry Zandstra

Most of the people that teach philosophy in the schools that you attended, or the schools that you are now sending your children to, do not believe in free will. David Hume and Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill, and a bunch of other utilitarians, they don’t think that we can know the truth, and therefore we can’t choose the truth. There is no good or evil. How in the world does somebody like Peter Singer come up with such nutty ideas, that a chicken is more valuable than a human person? You’ve got to give one thing to Peter Singer – and this is the thing I actually love about Peter Singer – he’s consistent, and he takes it all the way. He makes a logical argument all the way out. He’s right. If you look at us only in terms of what we can produce, a chicken is far more useful to the world, really, than a human being. He’s absolutely right in that. He would say there is no truth: there is no truth, there are no choices, there is nothing beyond this life that we have. If that’s right, then Singer’s right. It makes sense to kill old people. It makes sense to abort babies.

Do you have any idea what percentage of black babies are aborted? Forty-three percent of all African-American pregnancies end in an abortion. You think this is just about choice. It’s not about choice. The reality is, we look at the black population and we say, “You know what eighty percent of kids are born outside of two-parent homes.” We look at it and we say, “You know what, when we compare what a white kid’s going to contribute, or somebody from Asia’s going to contribute, versus what an African-American kid’s going to contribute to our society, it’s obvious that abortion is a good cost/benefit analysis.” That should scare the daylights out of us. That should have black people in an uproar. Forty-three percent of black pregnancies end in abortion. People should be outraged by that. You want an argument for abortion where you don’t have to stand up and say “Thus saith the Lord”? Make it here. You want a powerful argument against abortion? Say, “You know why I’m against abortion? One of the main reasons I’m against abortion is because I believe in human dignity, but I’m also against abortions because I believe it is inherently a racially driven policy.”

  2. We wouldn’t be having these problems if the cowardly legislative branch would finally take this issue up.  This ping-pong approach by both side of using the courts is solving nothing.

  3. Sorry, I should of said the Congress…

  4. Sorry, I agree with this - abortion, pro or con - should be put to a vote of the people. Not over and over and over again in the court system, not a constitutional amendment [(what ‘right’ and pardon me, where was that in the constitution (oh yeah it WASN’T, had to be put in by lib women, children and family haters)] and whatever a state decides STANDS. Has everyone forgotten STATES RIGHTS, I’m really, really getting tired of everyone standing around while the libs FEDERALIZE everything in America. Go find a communist country to inhabit and leave the United States of America ALONE.

  5. A large % of women who have an abortion are still depressed 60 months later.  Of course Medicaid and the taxpayers are footing the very expensive Rx cost and Mental Health Care Professionals’ expense.

Abortion is driven by big Pharma and their greedy desire to sell anti-depression medication thru Medicaid to the poor. skull

Ethics Requirement: Doctors should disclose the % of women who are still depressed after 60 months after their abortion.  The % of suicides should be disclosed too.  skull

  6. South Dakota is indeed the testing ground for this nation-wide hot button topic.

My main concern with this proposed legislation?

The fact that in no reading, nor souces any where , have I been able to find that this legislation does indeed make exceptions in cases of RAPE or INCEST.

While i am pretty much the farthest thing from a *feminist* that one can imagine...and i strongly DO NOT support a woman being able to get an abortion for simply being promiscuous, thus *oops- a little accident-just let me fix it*, or *duh- I forgot to take my birth control pill, or practice abstinence when I really should have had better self control*, or * gee- i’m such a feminist, and my life is so self absorbed, and oh my god! this is so inconvenient- let me fix the problem*, or....the list goes on and on…

However, in the case of RAPE and/or INCEST....I strongly take note of the fact that there is no exception made for these cases, and the scenario for such cases is mind boggling.

Example:  an little 11 year old girl , is very well developed for an 11 year old female, she has in fact began her menses, and all the boys are seeing her in a different , new light...she has sprouted a bit of breast, and yes, the little boys at school take note....some boys will be boys.....the problem is....so has her Father, who, the scum bag that he is...acts on it one day....little 11 year old girl stays quiet, no one is listening anyway...Father thinks buying her an ice cream now and then, or perhaps a nice toy or whatever, will make it seem ok...little 11 year old girl continues to stay quiet...Father, scum bag that he is continues to have incestuous sexual relationship with 11 year old daughter....no one is watching, noticing, or would listen anyway....then, low and behold....little 11 year old....now 6 months older....begins to show signs and symptoms of pregnancy....Think about it...this CHILD has been victimized by her own father, and is now pregnant...abortion is a possible alternative...yet, she lives in South Dakota....where it is ILLEGAL unless her life is in danger if she goes full term with the pregnancy....The 11 year old might LOOK mature, but emotionally....she may not even have the maturity of a *typical* 11 year old child...Father is found out....11 year old is put in Foster care....Pediatrician and OBGYN consult with social workers, child psychologists, yada yada yada...and it is the general consensus, that the 11 yo child would benefit physically and emotionally from termination of the incestuous pregnancy. PROBLEM is....11 year old lives in South Dakota. Time is wasting....the pregnancy is continuing along....should an 11 year old CHILD be forced to have a full term labor and delivery, which oh by the way, was not of her choosing either....even if ALL of the professionals involved submit that it will harm her more if indeed it is forced to fruition? Should the nice , financially stable family who wants a baby really bad, yet is unable to conceive, factor into the equation, since they are willing and able to take a baby born of this situation? Will that in and of itself *fix* the 11 year old childs serious dilemna enough to over ride professional judgement about her emotional and physical health? Take note: This legislation is very narrow in the fact that it allows for *termination where the mothers life is in danger*....this little 11 year old does not fall under that exclusion...afterall , she will NOT die if she has this delivery- tho’ she will be at high risk for depression, suicide, cervical cancer( due to early sexual exposure) and the list goes on and on....

My point? there is NO exception in this legislation for RAPE and/or INCEST. It is almost as if this legislation is stating *it is God’s will that you were raped, or were to suffer incest, therefore, it is God’s will that you will carry this pregnancy full term and deliver*.

In a perfect world, many people will argue that there are *plenty of good people who would take care of the baby, even the little girl*...does this fact negate the harm done by legislation that demands that an 11 year old female child raped by her biological Father in an act of incest not be an exlusion? I’m not God, I don’t know....but it is certainly NOT a black and white , cut and dried subject here. There are plenty of grey areas- oh! what an understatement. There are jagged lines that this legislation doesn’t even attempt to address.

Pregnancy that results from Rape and/ or Incest cannot be tied up into a pretty little legislation package. One size does not fit all.

Another example: 29 year old Jenny is happily married, she has one beautiful child. One early summer evening, around 5p.m. , Jenny goes for a walk in her neigborhood with her toddler in tow...it is a beautiful summer evening, the area is by all accounts safe and family oriented...While walking from one area of the park she has stopped in, to the other playground area.....Jenny takes a shortcut, and walks down a beautiful path....enjoying the warm weather and her little happy toddler....suddenly....scum bag lurks out of some bushes..Jenny has no idea who this man is....he grabs her, hits her in the face to stun her further, and drags her quickly further off the path into a wooded area, her toddler, crying for mommy, follows after....scum bag rips Jennys pants off, and in a fit of rage, brutally rapes her, while her toddler stands there whimpering and crying for mommy..while it seems like hours....it has been less than 10 minutes....scum bag finishs....punches Jenny in the face , further bloodying her face..tells her he has been watching her and knows her address, which he recites to her....and then disappears....Jenny staggers to her feet....grabs her toddler and runs home.....she is terrified, she showers, she feels dirty and ashamed, she crys....the seeds have been planted...the scumbags seed...and the seeds of emotional damage. Husband comes home one week later from business trip....Jenny is not herself, she is quiet, withdrawn, distant, crys alot, jumps at the slightest sound....weeks of this go on....finally....Jenny can no longer function well enough to pretend anymore....her husband in a fit of frustration....demands to know what is wrong...Jenny crumbles....the words flood out of her mouth.....Husband takes charge...calls the police, Jenny is also taken to the hospital....then sent home....their life has been altered in ways unimaginable...Jenny becomes so depressed she cannot function well...she only wants to sleep...she loses interest in her once happier life....2 months later....after trying to commit suicide- it is discovered that Jenny is pregnant....a pregnancy born from rape.
Jenny is so suicidal that she attemps suicide again. Jenny wants an abortion, all of her Doctors concur that termination of the pregnancy right away would alleviate to a certain extent, her mental health spiral into severe clinical depression. Problem: Jenny lives in South Dakota.....while she will surely kill herself if she is forced to go full term with this pregnancy, she does NOT fall into the exclusion of the legislation, for she is *physically healthy enough to carry the pregnancy full term*....Jenny wont *die* from this....no- she will probably just kill herself after the fact. Am I God? no....I don’t know the answer....but I do know....this legislation does not take into account the many , many , many scenarios that surround rape and/or incest, and that this is not a black and white issue. There are many grey areas. This legislation allows for no grey areas.Life is NOT perfect, and is certainly not as cut and dried as this legislation tries to make it.

  7. Doll: So fathers are rapping their own daughters.  Please use an example where the mothers are abusive too.  Go into detail please.  That will help you in your desire not to be a femi-NAZI.  Polls indicate that just as many women are abusive to their own children as men.

Many women are using abortion as a scam to have sex with men then charge them $300 to have an abortion, and they have had their tubes tied.  I shudder to think how many stoopid men have been seduced then fall for the old WomanConJob “I need an abortion - give me money” by evil, greedy, lazy women.  These scumball women are far more evil than crack whores.  I think this is something we all can agree on, right Doll question

  8. Since Mothers CAN’T physically impregnate their female children- the arguing counter point is MOOT, considering the topic is pregnany/abortion/legislation affecting both.

But, if it will make you happy, in example one- the Mother allowed the rape of the child to occurrolleyes
