  1. Welcome to the Gateway City - around here, we call that rag the St. Louis Past-Disgrace.  At least they carry Mallard Fillmore (but usually next to Doonesbury).  Their affiliate Suburban Journals are even worse! shit

  3. The roads suck in Saint Louis too.

And the Saint Louis earthquake problem is huge.

With the Saint Louis soil, all buildings will just disappear in the mud.

I hope your new employers pointed out the earthquake problem there Allan. island

  4. EARTHQUAKES?

    Shiver me timbers!

    LOL

  5. Z,

Good grief… earthquake problem?  My sister lives there.  I better write her quick.

What, is the river eroding beneath the city?

  6. Phoenix: In the winter of 1811-12, the central Mississippi Valley was struck by three of the most powerful earthquakes in US history.  It’s called the New Madrid Fault (halfway between St. Louis and Memphis).  It could be felt across the US, east of the Rockies.

Large areas sank into the earth, new lakes were formed, the course of the Mississippi River was changed.  Fatalities and damage was small, because only a few people lived there then.

I’m sure your sister has heard of the New Madrid Fault if she lives in St. Louis.

  7. Z,

Did you know Yellowstone National Park is a caldera almost the size of Toba - the world’s largest???  Scary… I saw on the news the other day Yellowstone was rumbling.

  8. The New Madrid Fault is due for a major action.  We don’t get that much action, a couple of Richter 3’s has been about it.  But we do live in Tornado Alley, so just be sure not to fly away Skipper!

  9. I lived in the Land of Ahhh’s for seven years.  I’ve seen enough tornadoes to last me five lifetimes.......  VERY scary…

  10. Now let’s not be too quick to ding Lee Enterprises - at heart I believe they might NOT be too liberal.

After all, when was the last time you heard anyone in the MSM admit that they had a liberal slant ... and furthermore that they were going to continue it?

Maybe the aforementioned Lee could purchase the New York and LA Times!!

  11. Don’t know about anyone else here in St. L., but I am a news “junkie”...........read the Post Dispatch from front to back daily as it is the only newspaper of value that we have.........altho yours truly was featured in the Ladue News (May 6th issue) which is the society news rag ..............As far as the New Madrid fault, so far no major problems - the San Andreas Fault has caused major problems over the years..........I am more concerned about tornado warnings than I am about earthquakes...........
