  1. Ah, the dear folks at B of A!  I have similar memories, but with a happy ending.  In the late 80’s B of A took over a local S&L where I had my checking account.  Overnight, I went from earning interest on my checking account to monthly fees.  Where before I’d had friendly, courteous service, I wound up dealing with an attitude like a civil servant with a hang over.  The most fun was when they made a mistake in my account and bounced a check of mine.  Calls and bank visits to find out why they had bounced the check when there was money in the account did nothing to fix the situation - they insisted on the returned check fee, etc.  At that point, I decided to close my account.  I started depositing my paychecks in another bank, leaving only enough money in B of A to cover my outstanding checks.  One month went by, the checks didn’t clear.  Two months went by, the checks still hadn’t cleared.  At the end of the 3rd month I called the people I’d written the checks to, to find out if they’d deposited them.  They had and were happy that I’d payed my bills.  Thereupon I went to my local B of A and closed my account, pocketing a few hundred dollars of the bank’s money.  After 20 years, they still haven’t figured it out.  two_thumbs_up

Short note on Ellison and Tancredo.  Mr. Ellison’s loyalty is not only in question, he is definitely a neo fascist.  Neither he nor his staff even had the balls to talk to Tancredo about it, they expected the police to arrest him!  After all, don’t our politicians have the right to tell us all how to live?
    fuckyou

  2. I had a CC account with them years ago and closed it for these very reasons. I got rid of a CITI card last year for the same reasons.

Now, unfortunately, the bank that issued my credit cards was bought by BoA last year. Being unemployeed for several months drove the balances up, but they will be closed as soon as I can pay them off.

  3. A campaign to send cheap cigars - maybe with a cute little piggy on the ring - to the good Congressman Ellison might just be the ticket.

    Maybe a King George/Smithfield combo?????

  4. My favorite bank scam is the ATM. Remember when they first cames out? They were going to both make your life better (by being open 24*7) and save you money (by not having to pay a teller). No sooner did the banks get a toehold in the market and they started hitting us up with fees. $3 to use the machine if its not run by your bank. $2 for your bank because you used someone else’s machine. $15 surcharge if you make more than X ATM transactions a month. 25 cents per transaction if you use your card like the credit card it pretends to be. It’s a con!! Still, we’re all addicted.

  5. When these illegal immigrants, who have no regard for the laws of the United States, run up their credit cards and skip out, who is BOA going to collect from?  One million illegals running up just $500 in charges and skipping out leaves a $500,000,000 bill...one half billion dollars.  Since they don’t have Social Security numbers or green card numbers, their is no way to track or trace them.  Being illegal without any documentation, they can open the necessary accounts with false names.  Manual Labor probably has another account under the name of Jose Lupie.

You can bet somewhere, someplace their is a loophole in the law that will get the American Taxpayers (government) to reimburse them for their losses.  If their isn’t any loophole, Senior Bush, RINO’s, and Democrats will push it through, fast, without us knowing about it.

  6. Ah BobF you’ve hit on it, but in the meantime - they will just up the charges and figure out how to make those card holders who are paying - to pay more. Before they get their local politico to make John Q public finance the whole scam. They are all becoming as evil as the politicians they are in bed with (figuratively speaking).

We had ‘Chase’ after us for 10 grand. My problem - never had a Chase card, ever. Well (our friendly neighborhood Indian, calling for our friendly neighborhood collection agency) turns out that it was Bank One, that sold to Chase - surprize ole Mr Kumar - we never had a Bank One card (and the loan on a Caravan was paid off in 1998). When I told him we didn’t have 10 thou and could only pay 25 per month (as we had no money) he laughed, said it would take 35 years to pay off (in my dreams, if we consented, they’d figure more fees and penalties and interest to tack on) and no company would agree to it since my husband was 103 years old. . .When I stopped laughing - I said, so the only things you got right was our name and SSN - and I’m suppose to commit to paying you 10 grand? Yeah, right. My next call is to a lawyer to sue you for harrassment. Strangely enough, Mr. Kumar stopped calling after that.

BoA is one of the reasons why no bank right now won’t give us a loan at all - my husband has flags and fraud alerts because of their losing his gov info combined with VA losing his info - we are (pardon my french) screwed as far as banking institutions are concerned - of course Chase having a 10 grand outstanding on one of our ‘reports’ is also a red flag. And now it has locked us out because of the gov alerts. Yeah, but those damn credit card companies can still get in and then send us offers - what a joke.
