  1. And inocent until PROVEN guilty - except for anyone within the Bush administration - and that is what America use to be about. While conservatives/Christians prefer to keep their failings and crimes quiet, so that if there are extunuating circumstances (such as a real mental break)or a real inocent caught up in something, the person and their family can go on with their lives.

The left which hides behind buzz words like tolerence, diversity and progressive just want to point at a fallen conservative/repub/Christian and scream hypocrite, bad, evil.

And yes, Skipper we all have done stupid things - most of us are lucky enough not to become ‘fodder’ for the angry, intolerant, hypocritical leftist of America. Or have spotlights shined upon us and our stupid event.

While obscure lower middle classness has it’s poverty and hardships - I am glad to be here simply because no one will shine a light on my failings and scream hypocrite.

  2. Having been there in the old days (as a kid, at least) when astronauts walked on water when they were not walking on the moon, I guess we have just come to expect astronauts to be larger than life in every way. I mean, not just the John Glenn, Buzz Aldrin, Tom Hanks, ooops, Jim Lovell (an Annapolis classmate of my Dad’s) John Young era but of Storey Musgrave, Sally Ride and Bonnie Dunbar (now the head of the Museum of Flight at Boeing field here in Seattle).

When one of them shows her feet of clay, we want to redeem her and put her right because that is how an astronaut is. But, alas, as astronauts become more and more of the common weal, they become more and more likely to exhibit our faults and foibles. And we despair of that.
