  2. I just finished Red Rabbit by Tom Clancy, published in 2002, and it made exactly that assertion: that KGB planned the assassination attempt and hired the Turk, with the intent to kill the Turk immediately afterwards so it couldn’t be traced back to the Soviets. Very interesting read.

  3. If this had been a Christian attempting to assasinate some top imam how long do you think he would have lasted?

  4. The justification for the Catholic Church’s objection to capital punishment is that we have resources to keep murderers safely away from future victims.  This is an event that contradicts that argument.

  5. If this asswipe renounces the violence and evil he did, well, maybe release is marginally acceptable as it was done under law rather than by a hand-wringing bunch of pussies under pressure.

But I doubt that will happen.

And who is this Mustafa Akmercan to be running around free after pulling off a hijacking? Aren’t these shits supposed to be serving loooong sentences? Sheesh.

Now, where is my Cypriot passport and that Fairbairn Sykes?

  6. This guy committed murder in Turkey and tried to commit murder in Italy. How the hell did he gather a group of “supporters”? I wonder if Mike Farrell was in that crowd cheering him.

(Yeah, that Mike Farrell, from MASH. He didn’t want Tookie Williams to die for four murders.)
