Legion has “SEALs”. Send them. THIS is bullshit.
Or a small tactical nuke.
Well it’s just possible that they’re trying to get the passengers and crew back *alive*.
Please understand, I have no objection to using deadly force on the pirates, as long as it accomplishes the job. But take a look at the actual *job*.
1) You have to get the team on board, preferably without the pirates noticing. Even the deadest beach on the planet is not as bare of cover as up the side of a yacht. I presume the pirates are keeping watch against exactly that.
2) Once aboard, you have to find the hostages and free them without a single person getting alarmed enough to just step into whatever space they’re being held in and simply mowing them all down with an automatic weapon.
3) Try not to kill the hostages by mistake. Not THAT difficult compared to the other parts of the mission, but you don’t have the ease of “if it moves and isn’t one of my teammates, kill it”.
Sounds kinda like Heinlein’s thing in Starship Troopers of “capturing or killing all left handed redheads in a given area.”
50 marines on ground attack, 25 for ground cover. 3 copters overhead for air cover, no problem. so much for the town. the ship is how close to that? doesn’t matter, make the deal and hellfires await it’s only fwench money! business as usual for them....arm every ship w/50 cal. and stop these goat loving pedophiles,........ next problem?
As I recall the Russian philosophy was that the hostages were dead, get revenge. If you got back live hostages, HEY BONUS! People who would take our Embassies time and again would only try theirs ONCE. Not a good plan to mess with that sort of attitude. But we’re more ciiiiiivilized. Barbarism does have its bennies sometimes.
Now there’s an idea.... put a medium sized hole in the hull, big enough so it’ll take a couple of days to sink. Make sure the engines are disabled. Both are easy enough for a SEAL team, a walk in the park. THEN ask them if they’d like to negotiate.
“If you don’t let us go, we’ll kill the hostages!”
“Okay. Then you can swim home. Are there sharks in these waters? Tell ya what, if you surrender and the hostages are unharmed, we won’t demand the death penalty.”
Good’un GOF!
