Freaky looking, but it might work. Shallow draft, narrow beam, all surfaces designed to flow the water off, light weight composite construction. That wave piercing concept is going to put a lot of stress on the upper surfaces though. Designing a boat that can operate mostly submerged seems like a good idea for rough sailing conditions.
I am not an expert on diesels, but I gather that biodiesel is just a different fuel; its the same engine underneath. So nothing really special there mechanically.
And the record they have to break? Well, seeing as how they can refuel whenever they want, it doesn’t really seem like that big a challenge. 26,000 miles divided by just under 75 days works out to about 14.5mph (12.5 knots), about HALF the speed as a big container freighter. What’s the big deal about that?
So now we have the rich white mens raping the animal and plant community just to run their multi-million dollar toys to impress the other rich white mens?

Dag, that is one humongous boat! You could fit the entire British Parliament in that thing and still have room for the Minister of Defense and the Home Secretary.
Harpoon a whale. Melt it down. Pour it in he gas tank. And go. My boat is 10 years old now. I gotta get me one of these…
I like “Around the World in 80 Days” much better, as a concept. Not only a great Verne novel, but a fine movie and a lovely waltz theme into the bargain (especially when the waltz is played in B natural).
Apart from that, 80 is a nice round number....
