You can’t have a bit of news about ancient Egypt without hearing from Zahi Hawass, so here’s a bit more information from his web site.
While the cat statues are cool, the bigger story is that the temple itself was discovered, on the outskirts of El Nouzha airport. Originally it was almost 200 feet tall, the height of a 10 story building. A skyscraper of it’s day. It is known from history that Cleopatra’s palace was nearby, so this find may be a huge clue to the actual location of the royal quarter of that ancient city. A recent underwater retrieval of a granite pylon about a mile away may help locate old Cleo’s mausoleum.
Very cool. Always loved that pharaonic Egypt stuff. Right up there with sharks, dinosaurs, and fighter planes.
AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! Leave it to you to know about a site like that. THANKS!
